I'm so tired of hearing liberals cry about how they can't look their kids in the eyes and talk to them about President Trump. Yet they have no problems telling them about killing babies, men wanting to be women and gay sex. Their values are so screwed up.

My son pulled the lever for President Trump in 2016. He also isn't tired of winning yet.

Why are you talking to children about national politics? Or any of the things you mentioned anyway. Why can’t they let kids be kids?

Jackie Kennedy always said that when she didn’t want to look someone in the eyes because, of her distain for the person, she would look at their eyebrows when she spoke to them.

They should try that.

Between my grown stepkids and the two still at home, they're all MAGA. 5 of them.

And I've never once tried to influence their opinion in any way. If they have/had political questions, I tried to answer objectively from both sides of the coin. I simply stated, "Do your own research about it, and don't buy into hate when you read things. If there's nothing but hate in an article or something you see on TV, then it's nothing but political opinion as opposed to fact."

It has turned out well for me.

My 20 year old stepson was all about Bernie for quite a while because he wants decriminalized weed... until I suggested that he research what real socialism is. He did, and during his search he uncovered that Trump isn't opposed to rolling back regulations on pot, and that socialism scared the shite out of him.

He was the last holdout. It's to my benefit that he's a "rabbit holer" who really digs deep into things when he wants to learn, so I knew what conclusions he'd come to even before he did.

They're not. It's all bullshite. It's another angle to say "Think of the children".

This is actually good to hear. When I’m coaching or out around teenage kids to young adults, I always get the feeling that we don’t stand a chance in the future because these kids are so heavily influenced by the liberal musicians, actors and social media influencers. How do you think your kids have been able to see through the bullshite?

In my opinion liberals are just like a slinky. They aren't really good for anything but they do bring some amusement if you push one down a flight of stairs

Agreed, let others talk to them about that and help form their opinions....

Bc people on this board live in hypocritical echo chamber where they do everything they “hate” but get upvotes from fellow child indoctrinating nut jobs so feel like they are justified. As if a kid wants to hear you spout off ab a political candidate and how the other side is going to “ruin this country.” It hasn’t happened yet and I don’t think it’s going to happen next election either, or the next one, or the next one after that.

ETA: kids should have absolutely no political opinion whatsoever, they have zero clue how the world works and don’t even pay taxes. Let them be kids and stay away from the massive two sided circle jerk mud slinging circus that is American politics

You teach them the values necessary to navigate through politics as an adult. While I haven't talked specific policy to my 8 year old she understands the differences between boys and girls, she understands the importance of liberty, etc.

If you dont teach them those values others happily will.

They're just shitty people who use their children to justify their own warped world view. Liberals are a virus who suck the life out of everything.

I'm just guessing, but I think it's because I tell them that those musicians and celebrities are the rich elite that have no clue how it works in the real world where real people struggle for money every day and can't just pay someone else to solve their problems.

And I remind them that just because someone is famous for acting or performing doesn't mean their opinion is fact, nor does it mean their opinion is any better than anyone else's.

Teenagers in particular are constantly pushing boundaries and are at least passively rebellious by intelligent design, so when you allow them to see for themselves that their opinions are not that of their own- but that of the ones who want to influence their minds- they tend to see things more through their own eyes. The trick is, getting them to step out of that box, for which I have no advice. I'm pretty sure I just got lucky

Kids don’t care who the president is. I know I didn’t care until I was in high school, and didn’t really follow politics until college.

All I cared about was football, chasing girls and parties
