Cool. Still doesn't give ICE the right to detain a foreign national on foreign soil.

And?
Where’s the problem?

Pretty sure she was detained stateside... Arizona? It's weird, but since we are only getting her side... I imagine there is more to it than that.

She was detained at the border south of San Diego for a couple days and then transported to the facility in Arizona. She wasn’t wandering the Arizona desert and got picked up by ICE.

She was able to get her work visa back in 2009 in the exact same way.
Well now the story makes even less sense.
She was in Canada and tried to come back through the Mexican border?
I thought she was still in la and just went down there to the customs offices or something and essentially turned herself in.
Why didn’t she just go through the Canadian border?

If she’s here legally to work, then why aren’t her documents in order?
Are you suggesting we should look the other way? …. let her in the US anyway? … because she’s Canadian? …because she’s pretty? … because you like her? …
Maybe she’s “special” …. the rules cease to exist in her presence?
Face it …. YOU are weak. A bleeding heart …

She tried but was denied. She thought she might have better luck at the Port of Entry on the Mexican border.

There is really only one question
"Is she in the country illegally"
It is either a Yes or No

So, why wasn't she deported? Poorly written story, but it seems she was detained at taxpayer expense for 11 days. DGNX6, you seem to know the law, what is the proper procedure here?
I guess the proper procedure was to just go to Mexico if you want to get into the US.
Trump is stopping that.
Still don’t understand why a Canadian is going to Mexico to get into the US.

Well she had worse luck.
And I’m grateful people from all over the world can’t just fly to Mexico and try to enter our country anymore.

Quit breaking the law. I know my passport expires in 2027. I’ll get it renewed before the time needed. That’s what responsible people do. When crossing into other countries get your $hit together. I’ve crossed the border more than most, it’s not that hard. Find a mirror girl, that’s the person that failed.

That's the way she got her first work visa back in 2009 under the guidance of a lawyer. She assumed that she should go the same route since that was ok the first time around. I agree that she should have checked again to see if that would work since it was so long ago. But that's just her being an idiot....which isn't illegal.
I'm guessing the reason why she choose that border instead of the Canadian border is because it's proximity to LA where she was going to work. A lot easier to hitch a ride from San Diego than Wisconsin.
