Canda did bitch about the canceled Keystone XL. Canadian oil companies saw it as a threat to their profits. Alberta's premier was none too happy and neither was the boy PM.

As with everything Trump there is a grain of truth that he builds his fairy tales around.

Whats shocking, is a grown arse message board with college ties displays so much utter ignorance on markets and trade.

That’s right the Western world is moving straight towards globalism. I’m so happy we have a president who doesn’t want to take us that way. The world needs strong, independent nations, not one world government.

I agree with a post I saw here yesterday. We start charging Canadians 10k to cross the border. They can do the same and charge whatever they want. frick them. Let’s see who wins.

Hey that was my post!!!

That would end this battle immediately

Our country should be like Disney World pay an extreme exorbitant amount for the privilege of coming inside our gates

Failure to pay 10,000 is a felony Which can be applied retroactively to everyone here illegally

The world economy has been global for decades and we are intrinsically tied to its success.

Do y’all realize how difficult it would be to defend the entire northern border of the United States?

Ehhh keep thinking. For starters, who is the invader here? China? Russia? Some future, authoritarian version of the EU?

Next, it depends on the season. General Jack C. Frost would do a lot of heavy lifting and we have by far the strongest Navy in the world to defend more realistic points of entry such as Vancouver & the East Coast. Invading from the Northwest Passages is somewhere between difficult to impossible depending on the snow. Do you realize how difficult navigation is in a snowblind, and how much fuel is required to even reach the border?

Next, imagine they make it through all of that to the US border. Where are they invading? North Dakota? Or the more concentrated cities, which are easier to defend (because they're concentrated). There's no Keystone pipeline to blow up

I understand the point you're trying to make, but every mile of the border is not created equally and would not need close defenses imo

That's tough talk from a country where 30% of their GDP comes from trade with the US.

We, the US, is still the least reliant on the "global economy" of any industrial economy. Thus, we are the country most likely to put the brakes on it.

We are one of the main drivers of the world economy.

And we’re 36 trillion in debt, our manufacturing base is gone, and we have our sworn enemies making our most critical items.

Thanks for making my point.

If we cannot rely on having a land corridor to Alaska, maybe Trump should start pushing for British Columbia and Yukon to be handed over to the US

Let them sweat it
