Can you imagine if politicians had to live in the real world?

You know, like had to get a real job and actually do work?

And had to do well enough at it to keep their health insurance and benefits?

And were subject to Obamacare?

And didn't get to vote themselves raises?

And didn't get to entirely ignore the wishes of the people who gave them the job in the first place?

And had to tell the truth to those people?

"Career" and "politics" were never intended to be found in the same sentence.

Politicians shouldn't be paid at all. The fact that being a politician is a job is a joke.

Judges and politicians need to have to live with the consequences of their decisions/votes. Now, they're insulated. It was refreshing when Abbott and DeSantis sent bus loads of migrants to Martha's Vineyard.

Most don't realize that Congressional pols only work / live in D.C. a few days / nites a week. They fly out on Thursday nites, "work " in their home offices thru Monday mornings & then fly back to D.C. mid afternoons on Mondays. Common knowledge but never mentioned around D.C.

They work Monday-Thursday one week, and Tuesday-Friday the next week, or that’s what they were doing in 2019 when we visited. So a 4 day weekend every other week.

Regardless of their DC work schedule, do you really think Pelosi or Jasmine or Chuck eat their own cooking? They are insulated from the fallout of the policies they support.

And not just them, but so are judges.

This is why my idea is to make them live in their district. Each paid the median of their diatrict, senators paid median of the state. All done remotely and recorded. 30 days in DC max as required by constitution. Any meeting with any lobbyist at any time recorded and published online. Body cams worn at all times like cops. Take away the little good boys club in DC and things will change.

That's an awesome plan. Accountability like that would fix a lot of garbage!

You should post more.

(For once I'm not being sarcastic.)

It should be a labor of love.

If you care that much for your peers money shouldn't be an issue.

Pay them as much as teachers. Sure a few benefits of housing and travel.. but it shouldn't be a highly profitable position.

100%!! It’s supposed to be a civic duty not a career. Good forbid they have to have to get health insurance and live like the people they represent.

I still can’t fathom the people that act like certain politicians are saviors that will lead us to the promise land.

Watching politicians from both sides performing outside manual labor in summertime would make for some must watch TV.

There are bee keepers and there are worker bees that work hard to keep the colony operating. Your job is to do what it takes to make the honey. Their job is to collect your honey. They’ll never make honey. They’re beekeepers. You do the work and they take your honey. It’s not your honey. It’s theirs.

This analogy stings a little bit.
