The current media, no. If the current media ever goes the way of the dinosaurs whatever the new media is that replaces it may but we won't know until we get to that bridge.

Perhaps they've never been credible in your lifetime. We just didn't have as many ways to replay and parse their lies.

The Media is owned by shameless, evil liars and profiteers.

Precisely. Thus, the thread topic could easily be revised to:

Can the media ever become credible?

No.

Your local TV stations? Odds are they're owned by a giant corporation with practically no ties to your community.

The national news are owned by a select few corporate behemoths that don't give a rip about this country.

The vast majority of radio stations in the country are owned by a handful of large corporate conglomerates.

What newspapers are left are largely owned by a few corporate conglomerates. Even the ones who have moved their operations online (like half of Alabama's newspapers with al.com) are owned by giant corporate entities with zero ties to the communities they claim to serve.

This is the problem. I don't know how you fix that problem, short of draconian government regulation that will make a new problem. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever return to a day when the news is an extension of the community or nation. They are an extension of big money and its agendas.

Turn them off and scavenge for what facts you can find in the wasteland.

Repeal the Telecommunications Act of 1996. That lifted the cap on the number of media outlets any one company was allowed to own.

Problem is the people consuming it that think it’s credible.

There is no doubt that they could, however, i honestly believe that the major networks and mainstream media has no and I mean zilch, nada, zero desire to do so. They are absolutely in bed with the liberals and I just don't see an end in sight. Hopefully, FOX can get back to being "Fair and BAlanced." We don't have to have Rush on TV though I have listened to Rush since the mid eighties but at least get back to fairness on both sides, or better yet, just give us the facts please.

Absolutely could. If they asked ONE tough question starting Monday it would go a LONG way to making people feel better.

Ask the president tough questions.
Also, publicize and criticize the leaders in congress.

Show me in all of Human History where the poor/weak/workers ever held decision making powers. Even when they rise up some evil doer(liar) emerges as a dictator.

The US had the right tools (Constitution) but now they are toast.

Even major religions like Catholics(the leaders lie their asses off)(make things up) to remain in charge.

The Media is there to make MONEY. Nothing else.

In actuality, the media was never credible.

They just don’t hide it anymore.
