Just so you know, solar creates a whole lot of pollution too. You should look in to it.
The amount if windmills and solar panels it would take to match hydro/gas/coal/nuclear is outrageous. I'm all for using solar and wind to help, but it's naive to believe that we could still meet our energy demands with only "green" energy.

Dale51, do you get paid to comment to every pro green energy post?

I don't give a shite if California is using 100% renewable energy. Half the state would not exist if they didn't hijack water from the Green/Colorado River.
Those idiots can pat themselves on the back all they want for cutting carbon emissions while at the same time destroying an ecosystem that stretches across 2 countries and 4 states.

Useless isn't true but there is a valid point about reliability.
Sun and wind can be fickle things so you wouldn't want to be 100% reliant on renewables (hydro excepted, it's proven damn reliable). A well balanced energy portfolio should always include a fair portion of traditional thermal generation, be that fossil or nuclear.

I haven't posted in any threads concerning "green energy". You have me confused with another poster.

Great. Let's see them run their autos and 18-wheelers on solar and wind.
What a f****** retard you are. So if homes get to wear their much more efficient then any home that you live in then you're going to criticize the fact that their automobiles aren't powered by renewable energy? What a f****** piece of s*** you are

You oil and gas baws are so triggered by renewables
I’m not an oil and gas baw, but get back to me when green energy becomes independent of government entitlements, grants, tax incentives, etc., and they show that they are capable of producing clean energy for vehicles, houses, businesses, etc. without using fossil fuels in any way.
You can prop up nearly anything with government assistance and some creative bookkeeping.

This is the s*** that always makes me think conservatives are morons. You don't believe in anything unless it's already packaged and done for you. The whole point is that they're making progress and they're doing it at a rapid rate.

My point is where would this boondoggle be without billions in tax incentives/welfare? Even WITH all of the incentives, the battery tech (the most important part of the green auto industry) still sucks.
I’m all for innovation within the framework of our society and technology and what makes the most economic sense. The problem is that right now, fossil fuels are still the most economical and viable solution.

I agree with most of that.
The context to my stating that "green energy" Like wind and solar are useless is based in a belief that something that is not needed, is expensive, cannot stand on it's own power, destroys more of the environment by taking vast tracts of land out of any other use, and needs to be forced on people is, in fact, useless.

Maybe because the oil and gas industry has been buying up patents for decades and putting them in a drawer never to see the light. This is why I'm fully for finding other alternative sources and taking time and money and resources and developing them. Wanting to shelve them because oil and gas is cheaper is just lazy and very short-term thinking

Even in the best case scenario, "green energy" powered homes require vast changes in how a person lives their lives and the choices they make in how and which appliances, etc they use. Forced efficiency is not the same as something actually being more efficient.

No way around this sounding confrontational but...
What have you done to help green energy companies get off the ground and continue research?
Donate? Invest?
Or is it just the role of big government?
What can someone like you do independently without government do to help achieve your goal of a green energy world?
I really didn't want that to be confrontational but whatever. It's not like we are buying each other an IPA for me and a hot tea for you anytime soon.

Uh Huh..they bought up the tech for that engine system that runs on water. You could just fill your tank from the garden hose. After they bought up the patent, they killed the guy to shut him up.

Here’s some progress I could do without:
“Solyndra received a $535 million U.S. Energy Department loan guarantee, the first recipient of a loan guarantee under President Barack Obama's economic stimulus program, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.[16] Additionally, Solyndra received a $25.1 million tax break from California's Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority.[17]” Wikipedia
Such a bargain!
