Can anyone explain that?

"Solutions" in search of a "problem" are annoying.

I have nothing against renewables but I would like to have seen them find their way into the economy without any government subsidies.

That wouldn't happen. They are too expensive, unreliable and useless without a backup system. They take up too much land, resources and have too short of a usable life cycle to be of any practical use.

So you are saying the Oil and Gas industry never benefitted from any government subsidies or perks?

I think the questioner is conflating subsidy with basic deductions that is available to every business.
It's the "green energy" field that actually receives subsidies in the form of taxpayer dollars for trying to create a viable product where one doesn't exist.

And those "problems" are...what?

Because that is essentially the government choosing winners and trying to spur economic growth artificially?

How so?

Meanwhile if you closely from the offshore rig in Huntington Beach you can see the nicely camouflaged pump jacks slowly squeezing the oil from the ground.

I have no problem with renewables as long as the cost does not outweigh the benefit and they can be done without massive government subsidies.

Exactly. Some estimates say we have about 150 years worth.

So let's reduce the earth's population to that of 100 years ago.

Returning to that population would do far more good for the planet than any regulation will.
Taking out the liberal leeches would exponentially increase the value of this "new sustainable earth" plan.

Good for California if that's what they want.

States rights is an important part of our system.

Just don't force La. to comply.
