quote:My point was to the GUMP, the women will sue the Universities and win, you could be watching Women's bowling on Saturday instead of your Rebs football team.
and your point?
ETA

The value of women's college sports thus rests in large part on their visibility. But what if colleges build women's sports teams and nobody comes? Recognizing this problem, the Obama administration found that a number of colleges had failed to provide "equal athletic opportunities to students of both sexes with regard to publicity."

I don't think you understand how scheduling works when it comes to televised sports.

That's not how that works.
ETA:
...at all.

ETA Even the Obama administration has laid it out.

Thank you for this mind blowing revelation.

Thank you for confirming the fact that you don't understand how this actually works.
ETA:
You already posted that quote on another "ETA".

Well the NCAA is the law of the land in college athletics and all those California college athletes will be ineligible to play.

NCAA is a paper tiger. They really can't enforce shite. The members have to consent to their bullshite. Corporations and bowl games don't have to consent to what the NCAA says.
California has slapped a hornets nest by doing this. The NCAA will have to rule against this or schools will start suing them for allowing an unfair advantage.

Fresno State about to become a major power along with the Aztecs of San Diego State

quote:The problem I see with it is this. Corruption. Schools and boosters will basically be buying athletes now. “Come to USC. We have deals with businesses that can make you millions!” While schools like Mississippi State say, “Uh, we have a used car dealership here in Starkvegas that can pay you $200 per commercial!”
While a bunch of old fricks get rich off these kids. Look at the bowl committee garbage. Lots of people make tons of money off these kids, it’s about time they get paid too.

You still have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. The only thing you're doing is taking one legal case and a quote without having figured out how to actually contextualize it.
Since you brought up watching Ole Miss football...I'll use that as an example. Try to keep up.
Ole Miss doesn't determine the game time. Television does. This isn't some new concept. If Ole Miss Women's Bowling is at the same time as the football game....the football game will still be televised.
You wanna know why? Because Title 9 has no jurisdiction over broadcasting companies.
I hope this wasn't difficult for you to understand. But if it helps...you can post that same Obama Admin quote for a 12th time.

So basically the same mega-power programs will still be mega-power programs.

literally no.
I'm not sure if there is a simpler word in the English language than "no". Only two letters. Very simple meaning.

So you don't play on Saturdays with the actual kick off time driven by the TV contract?
Posted on 9/30/19 at 1:59 pm to pankReb
quote:
That's not the only nature of the bill. CBS makes millions for every SEC Game of the Week. The entire week leading up to it they use highlights of players to help increase viewership. That is a prime example of someone using the players' likeness. No different than CBS having to pay BMI for every music clip they use.
That makes more sense.
Thanks

If television says we play on Saturday, we play on Saturday. If they say we play on Friday, then we play on Friday.
I hope this helps.
