Seems like disgusting violence to me.

I can see your point where hypocrisy is in play, but are we now looking to outlaw hate? Would you be for forcing a Black owned dry cleaners to clean a KKK member's sheets?

Gmorgan, I think you and your views of "violence" are certifiably insane. Have you tried checking yourself into an asylum?

quote:WTF? You're only allowed freedom if you're a fundamentalist? Makes no sense.
The religious freedom argument goes out the window when your are cherry picking which parts to follow.
quote:No. It isn't. It's a personal choice. Simply choosing not to participate isn't hate.
Refusing service to homosexuals is hate plain and simple
I don't choose to participate in butt secks. Does that mean I hate gays?
What about the ghey person that doesn't chose to participate in heterosexual intercourse? Does that mean he hates stratight people?
What happened to "pro-choice". Seems to exist only if you choose the "right" thing.

Funny how christians are fighting so hard for their right to hate. This is ironic from a religion supposedly based on love

I ain't no Christian. It's just funny that you can threaten someone with physical violence because they don't want to do business with someone and that's OK but not baking a cake for someone because you disagree with their lifestyle is just awful.

It isnt hate to merely deny them service. Ignorance, but not hate.
A private company should have the right to refuse service for any reason they choose, and the free market should have the right to run them out of business. Public accommodation laws are, in my opinion, stupid in 2014.
Im not defending someone so entrenched in their beliefs that they are unwilling to simply make a cake for paying customers, but in this country they should have the right to do so.

HHM, I like your posts, but you're wrong here.
True story: Two years ago, I got thrown in jail because I didn't have my CPO (certified pest control operator) license up to date. It took only a week to get my paperwork right after the arrest...but I got thrown in fricking jail because of a tiny mistake that hurt NOBODY.
Government is out of control...and they are using force to make people comply. You're a smart guy so, how is this not obvious to you?

But I'll let you in on a little secret... And this is not at all meant as an insult in any way because of course I am... But you gay. Now you may be closeted. You may be "questioning", but you're gay.
Amateur pop psychologists are the bomb.

There are definitely some hardcore closeted homosexuals on this board, no doubt about that.

Maybe from your POV.
Myself, I don't buy into pop psychology absolutes.

Well when a local community passes an ordinance that businesses can't discriminate against racists, then you have something. Until then, you have nothing to worry about.
My point is that communities (or states) are free to pass their own laws, but the laws can't violate the US Constitution. The US Constitution supersedes any local law. California's Prop 8 is an example.

Religious conviction accounts for much of the obsession here, but certain posters take it to a level not simply accounted for by church membership and bible studies. Guys like darkhorse and goldennugget definitely have some thoughts they desperately try and suppress

quote:I want to know this as well. And will those who are cheering this decision still be cheering when the gay baker is forced to bake a cake that reads "Westboro Baptist Church Rules!"
I still want to know.
Does a gay baker have to bake a cake for Westboro Baptist if Westboro intentionally seeks them out and requests one for an anti-gay event? Or hell, just a cake saying "Westboro Baptist is the Best"?????
Does the Jew Baker have to bake a cake with a Nazi flag on it?
