of course.
I would ask you to expound, but you are just as tiresome and intransigent as SFP on this subject.
You're both ridiculous boring on this subject and it is rather comical how you both are drawn like moths to the flame for every thread concerning tariffs here.

Rolls already has at least 6,000 employees in the US.

You going to argue, in a thread highlighting about Rolls-Royce bringing manufacturing back to America due to Trump's tariffs, that tariffs get us nothing in return?

Strawman and is just straight stupid argument.
Just think of it, we could have rooms full of people drafting on paper and using typewriters again. We can bring back the typewriter industry!

So not the point. The point is that we were wealthy with tariffs. Something you want to not be true.

but we also need domestic steel production for national security. Thats worth subsidizing
National security is the one legitimate argument, but that's non-economic.
However, I intentionally included "infrastructure" in my list of "undefinable words" for the mention of NS. We can't define "national security" like Leftists did "infrastructure" and pretend it means anything. Actual national security interests are needed.

Making cars in the US is EV+

But we already do this. These aren't lost industries like people keep discussing. They also aren't considered lower-level manufacturing, really.

You also need to bake in that the only reason it is so cost effective to import a lot of consumer garbage is because we subsidize their mail. It costs less money to get something shipped from AliExpress to the US than from New York to California, because we subsidize mail from poor countries (which for some reason China considered)
I'm fine with eliminating the loopholes created by government policy (not the market)

They make about 4000 cars a year and they are made at 1 factory in England. Their cars are made to order.
From the article in the original tweet:
So it’s not even announced they are opening a plant here. They might expand…maybe. But probably not because they have always been produced at one location. They also only have around 1300 people working for them.

According to The Telegraph, the Derby-based company is exploring strategies to reduce the impact of tariffs, which may include increasing its US workforce and expanding operations in North America.

Yeah, but it might happen, and if it does then something happened. They don't know what, but something happening is better than nothing happening.
See, you just don't know what winning looks like.

But we have no details on what this actually is.

The concept of comparative and absolute advantage isn’t nothing but I do think the economists struggle to model the negotiation tactic of tariffs to drive additional benefits (such as, incremental investment in production and job creation domestically) in their assessments.

Well, let's do it this way shall we. You got tariffs. You will get more. And I don't give a frick about your stupidity.

We're about 0.6% above what's considered structural minimum UE. So who is going to fill all these new jobs, at interntaionally competitive
wages? It's not a complicated question.
And in 1918, unemployment was 1.4%. In 1929, it was 3.2%.
All under a rich nation that used tariffs as it's main income.

See, you just don't know what winning looks like.
