It seems like it was about the time that there was a huge societal pushback against bullying that everything started going to shite. It was just a byproduct of the inclusiveness movement, but does reduced bullying produce weaker minded young adults?

What you mean creating a bunch of safe space seeking pussies is bad for society?

If you're bullying queers and trannies, yes.

That's what all this "anti-bullying" crap is anyway, code for accepting pervs

The bullying methods are just changing, due to newer technology.
The same weak arse people are still getting bullied and controlled. It's just different people doing it a different way.

We used to call it 'normalizing' in psychological terms. If you behave abnormally there are consequences...like mocking or bullying.
It sets the parameters for young people and helps them avoid trouble in the future.
This is why very few people are walking around looking like this:

Like sharks. They keep the oceans clean of weak and sick animals.

Seriously though, people act like there are 2 categories : Bullies and victims. I was bullied as a kid, and at the same time I bullied other kids. It's called growing up.

It started with a self-righteous attempt to stop bullying and it's morphed into an ongoing campaign to stop all forms of expression that might lead to someone feeling offended, unaccepted, or intimidated.

It's a tool to gain the ultimate form of control, control over words and thoughts.

I would state it more like bullying is a natural part of life that can't be eliminated, that kids can use it to grow from when they overcome it, and that the government attention to this issue is worse than the issue itself.

Anti-bullying didn’t reduce bullying. It just changed the methods from in-person to online. The bigger problem was the zero-tolerance policies for fighting. Fighting is essential for young boys to earn respect and stop bullying behaviors. Without it, these problems never get resolved until they explode with violence. Fighting teaches kids how to address their problems head on, how some conflicts cannot be avoided, and how to pick one’s battles.

I was bullied as a kid until I learned to fight back. Then, I wasn’t bullied anymore. Most fights between boys results in the two becoming friends as a result. This is no longer allowed to happen. Kids don’t learn what behaviors are acceptable and what things are drawing unnecessary attention. They don’t learn how to command respect. They only learn to run away, which only makes things worse.

I wouldn’t be half the man I am if I hadn’t been bullied and fought back.

The reason is that men don’t write these policies: women, insurance adjusters, and lawyers do. Women don’t understand the social importance of boys fighting because girls don’t fight/bully the same ways that men do. They only understand how girls bully/fight, and so their policies are geared around that without realizing that bullying and fighting mean different things to boys and girls and require different responses to create positive results and police negative behaviors. Insurers and lawyers are just trying to limit exposure to law suits.

You'll get shunned, if you don't conform. You must be exactly like us.

You want to lose all of your facebook friends? Do as you're told.

Jonathan Haidt talked about this on JRE. He talks about how we've been so conditioned to be over-protective that kids don't ever learn how to endure hardship. He compares it to a mental immune system. Here's a good article about it. LINK

Not getting your arse kicked because you were hiding under your dad’s skirt is what has fricked our youth.

They think they can say anything.

Fact!

I've been on both ends.

It was a personality builder.

Due to a lack of in-person bullying, and a lack of fist-fights, these kids get shunned with no recorse to face their tormentors or stand up for themselves. The problems aren’t resolved by a low-stakes school yard scrap, but instead stew until it boils over into real deadly violence.

Rather than a couple punches and shoves in 7th grade that results in the two kids earning respect for each other and becoming friends, the bullied kid suffers in silence until he finally snaps and murders everyone at age 17.
