That’s the oddest use of Voegelin’s “Immanentize the Eschaton” I’ve ever seen. At least LSU is getting some press. FTR, the term doesn’t mean bring heaven on earth. Voegelin used it to describe totalitarian states reducing the cosmos and end of days “new heavens” to the earthly realm. There is no second coming because there was no first coming, according to the atheist materialist. So the state’s promises of earthly utopia justify all manner of atrocity and deprivation of liberty.
