I’m sure the LEFT will soon chime in how reckless, irresponsible and dangerous this is and how this Administration is all too comfortable brokering deal with horrible people.

Crazy where we were 4 years ago compared to now.
Amazing what real leadership can do!

I honestly wonder what the point of our 18 years in Afghanistan was. I'd wager we could have gotten the same deal in 2002 or 2003. The Taliban was willing to hand over Bin Laden to a third country or neutral organization in 2001, saying they knew he was guilty, and were willing to kick out anyone associated with the Taliban. Bush rejected the proposals before the invasion and after the invasion.
I know that there are preconditions for the US leaving contingent upon the Taliban remaining peaceful, but I'm interested to know what the Taliban give up in this deal, and what incentive they have to prevent taking up arms in the future.
What happens in the future is also dependent on the Central and South Asian security situation. Pakistan is extremely vested in a weakened Afghani state to ensure that their own restive Pashtun minority gets no big ideas. In addition, Pakistan is deeply invested in ensuring they aren't encircled by India, which isn't assured by the current civilian government in power in Kabul.

I’m sure the taliban will stop their terrorist ways. Lol
I’m glad we’re getting out, there is no helping those people.

Will the Taliban live up to their end of the bargain?
I doubt it. But I'm sure our government knows this.

This is a generational accomplishment and will go uncovered by the MSM. The progressives would rather have the USA fight an endless war than concede that POTUS did a very good thing.

Correct.
The war mongering left and their blood thirsty media will be pissed if they cannot lay deaths of troops (they hate anyway) at the feet of Trump.
Not to mention the NeoCons (that the Filth were just sucking off a couple weeks ago) will be pissed too.

People in the US tend to misunderstand the nature of the Taliban. They are not an international terrorist group (like ISIS). They are a political party in Afghanistan. Their political platform is very pro Islamic extremism. But we have political parties in the US who support Islamic extremism. We call them the Democrats.

I mean yeah it's great assuming we follow through here but we still have a shite ton of troops in the ME as well as still being buddies with SA.

How will our politicians funnel money back into their families pockets?
