His generals can't be this stupid. Wonder if we'll see a coup soon.

Any strategic reasoning for Guam

You just have to hit it a little bit and it'll flip over

*snerk* but seriously I think it is a naval base.

But this is seriously mind numbingly stupid on their part. Do they seriously not think that we wouldn't retaliate in kind and glass Pyongyang? And we would be in the right for not firing first.

It won't make it there. There only hope of a strike is South Korea or a few cities in China and Japan.

If the alternative is a massive refugee influx and US client state on the Yalu, they will be.

I just texted a naval intelligence officer. This is as real as it gets. All of our forces in east Asia are in high alert for a possible pre-emptive strike.

Also Guam is just a diversion one that he says was easily seen through.

Im sure everyone has heard about the THAAD system in S Korea. You know the ONE other place in the WORLD that has that anti missile system? Guam.

They are literally trying to hit the only island in the world with a capable missile defense system.

Ummm, China aren't fans of human rights. They'll have no problem throwing them back over the border to starve. They're more concerned about their economy than anything to do with North Korea.

No chance. The US-China economic trade balance runs over $500 billion. The NK-China economic trade balance is barely 5 billion.

I doubt they'd mind some damage to the US strategic bomber fleet in their region though. Then the US deals with NK, win-win [ish]

I see China being unhappy if we did that, but, not THAT unhappy.

What I am worried about is the missile hitting the side of the island and tipping it over.

If China wanted to they could cut off NK. But they seem to be putting their pocket book before war. LINK

quote:

China has taken a few steps toward reining in North Korea, such as cutting off coal exports earlier this year. But it has not wavered in its view that a unified, Western-oriented peninsula would be far more threatening to its core national security interests than anything the North Korean state has done or will do. Unification, China believes, likely would end with the U.S. military on its border, an unacceptable risk. In turn, China has refused to take the necessary steps to really damage the North Korean regime, such as closing its border, blocking the flow of North Korean worker remittances, or enforcing a blockade against North Korean shipping.
