Boy we had a nice little shake this morning 4.8, you guys ever experienced these

We get them often, there is a fault line running up the southern caribbean.
One like this morning is a swaying and you wonder if you are a little light headed or is the walls/floor moving.

We had a 5.1 in 1980.Then a 4.6 in 1988. Only microquakes since. Those were local quakes near Sharpsburg KY.
The big one will most likely come from New Madrid. There are small quakes you don’t notice almost daily there. There are fault zones in East Tennessee, near Charleston SC and the Wabash valley that I have had to design for.

only one time I felt a quake was the South Carolina 5 point something one from about 10 years ago now. Thought I was having a heart murmur, but then saw my desk moving. It was like a dump truck was passing by outside my front door. Interesting.

My house sits 100' feet off of a two lane. We have 2- 2.5 in the area all the time. One evening twenty years ago we had a 3.1 that was centered just 5 miles away. It felt like a sharp bang.
I thought somehow an idiot drove his car off of the highway and hit my house. I actually went outside to look for the accident.
All others were just riding waves. Our town just sits on old river sand.

I felt some a few years ago when we were having them here in OK. I remember being on the phone with my brother when one happened. He was about 20 miles away. He just stopped and said what was that. I had to explain to him it was an earthquake. We only had 1 that actually rattled stuff off the walls.

Was still living on the benches of North Salt Lake when the 5.7 hit in 2020. Freaked the wife out. Intial was about average 5 - 7 seconds. Aftershocks all day afterward.

No in Trinidad, the epicenter of this one was 20 miles away in the panhandle of Venezuela, 100s of miles from the big one two weeks ago.

If you are talking about the October 17, 1989 San Francisco earthquake it registered 6,9 not 7.6 but it was still the biggest earthquake I ever felt. I was walking in the Marina when it hit and it was like riding a bucking bronco. I was looking at the skyline of San Francisco and I thought I was going to see the entire city come down.

I was in a several in California but only one that I actually felt, which was a 4.7 in by the time it reached Huntington Beach. It was a 7.0 centered in Joshua Tree National Park.
It was weird. Woke me up, felt like my house was a boat going over waves. Threw my equilibrium off for sure.
