So is the old lady who baked bread for the guards...the 17 year old kid who walked the fence...the german who was crippled at the eastern front who ended up there cause that was his orders...c'mon man.

nope, this was the guy who volunteered for the SS (not the regular german army) and helped to administer the holocaust. this wasn't a local who baked bread or some kid who walked the fence. though i have a feeling that you know that.

he wasn't just following orders because there was a gun to his head, he volunteered for the SS. and as far as the old "following orders" canard is concerned, christopher browning has proved that no nazi suffered any significant consequences for ignoring orders to kill jews. so groening lived comfortably for 70 years and only late in life was asked to account for his crimes. karma's a what, they say?

Although, I don't think anyone here would really be accepting of people from the Middle East regardless of religion.

I have a great idea!

Why don't you take your gross generalization, write it down, wad up the paper into a ball, and shove it up your arse?

Is there no statute of limitations to this kind of charge? I guess obviously not, but I'm willing to bet this man has faced personal demons far worse than prison in his lifetime.

What about Soros? Guess he had enough money to buy his way out and then buy the DNC in the USA.

Oskar Groening was convicted in July 2015 of being an accessory to the murder of 300,000 Jews and sentenced to four years in prison.

4 years, seems about right. In America guys get 4 years for 4 Driving with a suspended license conviction.

Or a few bags of weed.

He didn't kill anyone or take part in any executions. So what orders could he have disobeyed?

I've seen some stuff on him in the past.Interviews.

He put in for transfer to the front more than once,I believe,to get away from Auschwitz, but was denied

Like other SS that worked in the bookkeeping at Auschwitz,he pocketed money and precious items that belonged to the prisoners that were soon put to death.

So,imo, that makes him somewhat of an accomplice to the crimes. But,I feel that I'm not in a position to make a decision on whether to sentence him.

The guy could have kept his trap shut and lived out his days without incident. However, he exposed himself for the purpose of fighting those that denied the Holocaust occurred. I am not saying that it erases his role in what happened, but it should definitely have been considered.

A bookkeeper? Jesus Christ, if we are sending German bookkeepers who witnessed killings and processed property that the German government siezed, we would have to send a whole lot of normal German soldiers to prison.

And why we have 'The Whistleblower Protection Act'.

His record as an activist against Holocaust deniers since 1985 was not taken into consideration. Gröning has been notable as a German willing to make public statements about his experience as an SS soldier, which are self-incriminating and have exposed his life to public scrutiny.

Would they have caught him otherwise?
