ETA

Consensus in tread seems to think this should at least merit a board beta treat

My Social security thread is actually going decent. With that in mind, would there be merit in having 4-5 permanent stickied threads titled perhaps some of the following (or others)

Social security discussion
Tax policy
Education policy
Foreign policy
Immigration

Same more stringent ground rules?(from the SS thread)

Perhaps the existence of discussions which really have extended across MANY administrations would contribute to regulars on the board becoming less of dimensional?

I appreciate what you're trying to do, but you'll still end up with trolls polarizing your thread

Not bad.

It would be like the outdoor and money board have permanent stickys with background and ground rules.

Would need to delete ALL posts(not people) that didn't meet ground rules

Let the free for all happen outside the stickies

I think it's doable

My SS thread has gone fine

Ive been waiting for someone to propose some sort of quarantine ceasefire area be it a tag in the OP subject or sticky threads or something. The only problem with sticky threads is they limit the scope of discussion by their nature and, personally, I just always forget they are up there and ignore them.

Both solutions require some sort of troll shaming self enforcement or outright moderation not to be shitshows.

Yes, although it'll be better if they're more limited in scope

And they'll have to be evenly and harshly moderated. No personal insults of any kind, no trolls, no gifs, no chain mail shite, etc. Honestly, while it's imprecise, no short replies would probably help.

I certainly think it's worth a shot

Who knows. It might have a bleeding out effect on the rest of the board

I frankly think it's silly how 99% of debates center on the personalities of the current political players pushing them

I've held many views across multiple administrations. The current occupants at an given time are irrelevant

Hell. My ss ideas are virtually unchanged for 20 years

how about we add a feature to account avatars so that others can vote if you are liberal or normal brained

that way if you get say, 25 liberal tags then you get a liberal idiot badge added to your avatar

it would help avoid regular members who dont post a lot and arent as aware of who these people are, and helps them from wasting time trying to explain things to them, since liberals always deny reality as well as facts and they cant process any info logically.

I think being pinned at the top will help precisely because the "bout to get my troll on" contingent, which may sometimes include you and I, won't wade into those threads

Make them boring as hell, and in time they won't be targets. I think we should do it, there are definitely times when I want to talk about real subjects but I never bring them to this board.

So how do we get this to happen?

At least maybe a 90 day beta test?

Start a thread on the help board and I'll endorse the effort

I don't know any mods on here, LA maybe?

Just watch this board for a day and you will see that the constant vomit of right wing propaganda makes it impossible to hold a thread for more than 15 minutes. They just don't have the attention span.

You love vomit. That's very odd.

This is no more helpful than the "we need indicators as to whether they is libtards or normal-brained" guy
