As would I.

You see, if you are giving someone your money, it is within your rights to condition how that money is spent.

The problem I have with Bloomberg is he believes he has the right to tell me how I can spend MY money.

could not have said this better. I also think food stamps should be restricted to healthy and nutritious foods.

Think of how many whole chickens, heads of broccoli, and pounds of oatmeal 100 bucks a week would buy. The ebt users would be fit as Hercules.

Instead they buy 90 honey buns and 8 packs of hotdogs, and end up fat.

If you give them this power - they will use it in every other facet of our lives. Anything they deem wrong, will carry a sin tax.

And it will be everything from SUVs to fizzy drinks.

I’m in the same boat as you. Simply pointing out the irony of a large part of the dem base preference and the war Bloomberg declared on sodas and sugary drank. He needs those votes.

I've got a buddy that owns a gas station & he sent me this a while back. He said he turns this shite down on the regular but that's just his policy. Other places seriously let people spend $25 on straight sugar. You could get enough bread and peanut butter for weeks for $25

Either people are commenting without watching the video or just don’t understand what Bloomberg is saying. He isn’t talking about telling people on food stamps what to buy, he’s saying that the government should use taxes to control behaviors.
An early poster hijacked this thread and lead it in the wrong direction.
We aren’t talking about food stamps!

That's great. I would love to hear some of their reactions when he denies it. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten any complaints.

They already have this power. SNAP or whatever it’s called these days has always had items you can’t buy. It got grossly expanded under the halfrican.

All food stamp recipients should only be allowed to shop in a food stamp Depot. In this Depot, there will be no name brand anything. No processed junk. You get to pick from wild pork (we have tons of wild hogs to feed people)

How about wild nutria? You can’t spell nutriation without nutria.

I remember back in the day when your parents could send you to the store with a note that you'd give to the clerk and they'd let you buy cigarettes. Selling cigarettes to 10 year olds. No shite. And back then, you could use food stamps to purchase said cigarettes. I frickin seent it.

I did it.

That is wrong. And if you're on the government dole for food stamps you should be buying whole foods, IMO. Or, if not whole foods, you shouldn't be buying soda with my money.

Truth be told, taxiing the poor would probably would help reduce drunk/distracted text-driving. So is Bloomby gonna pay for it himself or tax the shite out of the middle class like Bernie?

Who wouldn’t support that?

That’s a great idea that should have been policy 30 years ago.

What the hell is wrong with that? Maybe it'll keep them out of the medical freebies for a while.
