The campaign plans a multipronged attack, including the publication of opposition research on Sanders, these people said. It will also push out digital attack ads focused on Sanders' record. On Monday, the Bloomberg campaign attempted to paint Sanders as a past ally of the National Rifle Association, a gun advocacy group that Bloomberg has fought for over a decade.

The attacks on Sanders, who has accused Bloomberg of trying to buy the Democratic nomination, will also attempt to highlight negative aspects of his record on race relations both as a congressman and senator, the sources said. This comes after Sanders, now seen as the Democratic front-runner, has taken aim at Bloomberg for his support of a policing policy known as stop-and-frisk that often targeted black and Latino people.

People within the Bloomberg campaign are also discussing whether to have surrogates and supporters write op-eds and show up on TV to speak out against Sanders, these people added.

Nice. This is probably a collaboration with the Dem and Republicans to destroy Bernie. Both parties realize the danger of him winning the nomination.

I will give Sanders credit...he has been a strong protector of hunters' rights for Vermont (even if he's a loon as to other gun control issues).

They are all going to attack Bernie now that he's the clear leader. This next debate will be brutal towards him.

Bloomberg is sure to incur the wrath of AOC.

It's a win/win.

This will backfire spectacularly. The DNC has mainstreamed anti-rich populism enough to the point where everyone will see straight through this.

Bloomberg and the DNc had every opportunity to do this after 2016 or last year. They chose to think they could just buy the nomination.

Bernies train isn’t slowing down. I mean the support he is getting is from his base. Ask long as there is 6 other people in the race none of them are going to eclipse Bernie in delegate count going into convention.

Uh, no. The Republicans want Bernie to win. He has a paper trail that will equal a record breaking number of negative TV ads.

Every time the DNC/MSM/Establishment tries to take down a "non-establishment" candidate it backfires.

Bernie's supporters will become that much more committed and more not-yet-Bernie voters will see through the establishment BS.

If it comes across as a hit-job his support will go up.

Eh I think a lot of the Wall Street Republicans are scared that Sanders might actually win. An interesting thing that might happen is that the markets might start to shed value if the polls indicate Bernie is doing well, which the campaign could then turn around and throw on Trump.

No way...all the Republicans need to do is stay out of the way until the General election as the Dems will load them up with campaign ammo as they destroy each other. This could not work any better for Trump as he will bring all this crap up when the time comes!

I would guess behind closed doors, Mitt Romney is one. IDK though. It hasn’t gone well for GOPers that have openly come out against the President.

I think people see the chance for a leftist repeat of 2016 — “this guy can’t win because he is too radical/anti-establishment”

The only way Bloomberg can win is with a brokered convention right?

Most of the stats I see don't even mention Bloomberg. I don't follow why he's even throwing money down the drain (not that I care) or what he's hoping to accomplish. . . Because he isn't going to win the nomination.
