Robstown, TX high school's mascot is the "Cotton Pickers". Fortunately, the town is mostly Hispanic and they don't bitch about it.

I referenced it. I didn’t link it because years ago the guy featured posted a video saying he wishes it was taken down as he was entering his adult career after college and potential job opportunities would look down on it.

This is one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen. How are people not embarrassed to be so goddamn soft?

My grandparents (both white) grew up poor as dirt in southeast Georgia and picked cotton from the time they were 5 into their early 20’s. Lot of other white folks out there have grandparents who did the same.

most 'civil rights issues' we see today are just legal or political grifts. it's beyond old now.

In the early part of WW2, my dad (10 or 11 at the time) and all the other boys in his school, was taken out of class, put on a school bus, driven somewhere outside the city and made to pick cotton because all of the regular field hands were off in the military.

Do they not have to sign permission slips for them to attend the field trip?

These people are just looking for something to be upset about at this point. Either that or saw an easy opportunity to take advantage of a stupid situation.

No offense, but how old are you? Nobody in these parts has picked cotton by hand for probably 70 years.

I agree. I'm 42 and my great grand parents had a farm when I was a kid and I vaguely remember being there as a kid and seeing the cows and shite but I don't remember seeing any cotton lol.
