Businesses have tried this and it becomes a racial thing whenever a black person comes in and feels singled out even if everyone does it.
At some point they have to start ignoring the complaints.

felt for the guy, but then again, you got exactly what you asked for.
He needs to get black people’s credit card at time of order like a bar tab.

Force patrons to give a credit card upfront
I would do it to stop this shite
Also add a mandatory tip, because if they do pay they don’t tip

I read an article once on the culture of central/west African nations. The gist of it was basically the cultural norm is if any person has success or wealth, he/she is expected to share it with the family and neighbors. Share as in they are entitled to a portion of the money or free goods even though they do nothing to earn it. If the person refuses, he becomes ostracized and an outcast and it’s then culturally acceptable to steal what they feel entitled to from that person. Article said it’s basically impossible to be a business owner if you’re a local citizen in these countries because they get robbed blind. The few businesses that do exist are all owned by foreigners who live there.
I found the parallels fascinating considering the behavior we see here by that group. Considering American slaves were brought from that area of Africa, it makes perfect sense and it’s 100% a cultural issue and not simply an education or socioeconomic cause.
I read a really heartbreaking story years ago from an American that traveled and worked over there for a big international company. He'd befriended a young man that had an idea to start a bread business, as they have a kind of flatbread over there that's a staple in their diet, and he decided he wanted to build his own bread business. The American helped him get his loans for this like brick oven construction, startup materials, and supplies. The young man built the stand next to a busy road where plenty of travelers could stop and buy the bread.
Two days later, the kid's father rolls up in a cart with two of his wives and a bunch of half-siblings. The dad then directs the half siblings to take all the bread his son has made for sale and load it in the cart. When the son objects, the father cuts him off and says "You have bread. The family needs bread". Dad has several more wives and an army of kids. And this is the way things are done. That was that, once Dad gave his command. The young man shut the bread stand down. No point if Dad was just going to steal all his work.
As they say down there, "Africa wins again".

Wait?
You mean all that looting and stealing wasn't a racial justice protest?

I may be out of line on this but I think the black experiment in America is over.
It’s funny they care so much about ending racism, and do not care at all about changing the behaviors that make people racist.
The culture is lost and I just want to get as far away from it as possible. All they do is say “muh white male school shootings” and think that takes away from all the damage they cause everywhere they go.

I'm starting to understand why so many restaurants in Mississippi are set up with a pay first setup, i.e. Newk's and Primos in the Jackson area.

Dad didn't realize that by taking all of the bread, he killed the business. Instead of feeding the family for years, he settled on feeding the family for a week.

Can’t believe those people would do such a thing…

They are shocked that anyone would do this.
This is legit racist head in the ground mentality. When White owned restaurants complained about this for years, these same people would call them racist. Now they are just getting a taste of their own medicine. I have no sympathy for them. Especially since all they push is their race based promotions.

It's a different mindset, it's more of mafia hierarchy.
If you can't make enough to give him his cut then there is no point of you staying in business.
He owns his son, for life.

In the community, racism is seen as a failing of the racist person.
Personally, I think that mindset is a problem because it's devoid of accountability.

Honest hard working blacks hate that element of black culture more than anyone
Then they need to be more vocal about and quit blaming whites too… or excusing it. There are not nearly enough of them angrily and publicly calling their own people out. Way too many of them still quietly blame whitey too.

It matters when the prevailing narrative is how blacks are perpetual victims of "systemic racism" and white people are the root-cause of all their ills, but blacks are victimized by other blacks at a far greater ratio. What's really funny is watching them circle the wagons whenever this is pointed out, apparently it's still YT people's fault that blacks victimize their own
This. 100%

I was near that restaurant that week when it happened. It was a "hip hop record release party".
There was actually closer to 25 people shot. It was a drive by involving some gang bangers. They blew the windows out of the entire block. There was a Dunkin Donuts that had to be shuttered also.
It was on Chicago and Franklin. The club was called "Art is". Real shi÷hole. I think 4 total were killed.

quote:exactly. It's to the point where blacks complain and people will go in hopes those complaints will only be heard by the riff raft they don't want be around.
At some point they have to start ignoring the complaints.
Restaurants just need to post the policy at the entrance in a witty way. Edit add to clarify: the policy to start tabs. Everyone that has sat at a bar knows this, so shouldn't be hard to explain to customers.
My thing is tipping. Say 15% min tip is added for expected good service. If the server doesn't deserve it then they have to tell the mgr why, and the mgr can remove it. Which the mgr can use as a teaching/training moment.
Again, have it posted so people know going in and people can take it from there. Obviously it holds the restaurant self accountable to make sure customers think the small inconvenience is worth it to keep coming back. Granted people tip more if they want or some won't cause they don't like being forced to automatically. It all works out. Once people become regulars then they can be handled differently.
And frick dem Canadians someone mentioned earlier. These rules will work for them. Make them rent areas tied to their tab.
Restauranteurs are afraid to set rules. But if they let them know from the start, and have a great product then it'll be fine.
