What the heck is a 'bishopess?!?!'
The National Cathedral in Washington, DC has become a cesspool of liberal and radicalized clergy, pretty much all affiliated with the Episcopal/Anglican church. They even charge visitors to visit what is a gorgeous Gothic-style cathedral and a national monument. I will note that the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, its Catholic counterpart, does not charge.
Marianne Budde has been the bishop of DC since 2011 and is known for her left-wing views. And she is a perfect example of why people are leaving churches in droves. None of these cloaked dufuses were put up there to use the pulpit for political views. And yet they continue to do it.
The look on Melania's face is priceless, if she could freeze Marianne with a look, her eyes would absolutely do it.
Oh, and did you catch the look Vance gave the President?!?! Again, a look worth a thousand words.

She is the Episcopal Bishop for Washington DC and the prayer service was at the National Cathedral which is an Episcopal church

Because, like Westminster Abbey in London, it's the nation's center for memorial services, events like today's, etc. There are many important people buried there, including a president.

In as much as our country has a history, the National Cathedral is part of that history. Unfortunately, the rapidly radicalizing Anglican/Episcopal church, is destroying its dignity.

You can't vet a church (especially this one which is the traditional setting for these types of events.) I don't know that they knew who was going to preach, but you would hope that the pulpit would be used to spread the Gospel of Christ and bless the new administration, and not for political statements from a cleric who is supposed to know humility and not judge. But apparently not this bitch!

Look back at the history of the presidency and you will see that these churches have been used for many, many years during Inaugurations and other national events. It's not the church, it's the self-centered individuals in funky robes who think they've been given the right to use the pulpit for political speeches.

Should of told them we are bringing our own Pastor for the service. Trump should take this opportunity to sign another EO. Any Church promoting grooming children will lose their tax exempt status and have to pay monthly fines
