Stop. Just stop.

This says "cluster-frick" more than "representative"

Why are you laughing? This is how it all starts and we lose our Republic. Float a crazy idea, people laugh, float it again and again until it becomes a movement. When they gain control of the Senate and Presidency, then what?
It takes 38 states to ratify an Amendment.
They will never get all those states in the middle of the country to go for it because it would completely make their voices irrelevant!

Yes. Right now we average about 755,000 people per representative. That is outrageously poor representation compared to other democratic governments. We started out with about 35,000 people per representative, and we never should have let it get above 100,000.

Really? You think anyone wants to have to buy 500 or 600 votes to get their agenda approved? Good luck with that. It will be like herding cats.

Right. You remember just last year when record amounts of money were spent trying to retain GOP control of Georgia Dist. 6? If that had been just 1 seat out of thousands, no way a single seat would have been so important.
And I don't know what your response was to my statement that it would increase the number of Electors. It would, and that increase would likely result in the Electoral college falling more in line with the popular vote. Still a chance of there beine different results, but less of a chance.
I also left out that a larger House would provide an avenue for a third party to gain viability. Pick up a few seats here and there, and before long they could have a legitimate voice.

We're not a democracy. And I'd consider your idea to increase the House right after we repeal the 17th amendment.

Thus negating the point of the electoral college.
Again, we are not a democracy. The Executive was never meant to be determined by the popular vote.

Of course we are not a pure democracy, but that does not mean we should just sit back and let our individual representation in the federal government continue to get diluted. We used to increase the number of Representatives after just about every new census. In 1929, the rural states feared losing their voice in the House and managed to pass a statue capping the House at 435. This contradicts the original intention of the Constitution. We should have been increasing the House quite a bit over the last century, and its time to catch back up.

No, but it was intended to be chose by the Electors who were apportioned based on population. The more populous states get more Electors. By capping the number of Representatives, and thus capping the number of Electors, we are giving the smaller states a disproportionately larger voice than they should have....their electors represent fewer people than the Electors of more populated states, which was NOT the original intent
Because every state gets 2 Senators, the smaller states already have disproportionately larger voice in the Electoral college, but when their representatives represent fewer people, their voice gets even larger than intended. This can be rectified by increasing the number of representatives as the Constitution originally intended.
I really don't care if the popular vote matches the Electoral votes, but I was just adding this here because it is a simple and preferable method to addressing this issue than seeking a constitutional amendment.
The House of Representatives is supposed to be the voice of the People. The Senate is the voice of the States. The House needs to be increased, and jam packed with people from all walks of life, from the loonies to the PhDs, and everyone in between.

That's right, why should we expect our Presidents to be elected by a majority of the electorate? Let's just keep electing clowns who lost by 3 million votes. According to the Trumpees, that's true "democracy."

The same reason we have a house and a senate.

Democrats are such wusses.
