Bill Maher discusses police with Bakari Sellers and Coleman Hughes

I know this board isn’t super fond of Maher. I posted a segment he did on parents a few weeks ago and it actually was pretty well received here. Last night he and two panelists discuss police and recent events regarding them. They were wrong on some specific details but overall it blew me away that they seemed to have an actual rational conversation about this topic. It’ll definitely have me researching Coleman Hughes and his work more. Bill Maher hasn’t been afraid to go against the typical narrative even though he trends pretty far left.

First time I heard Hughes speak was on Sam Harris’ podcast.
He is a good listen.
He is a good listen.

And only 24 too. Looks like he’s part of the 1776 project.

I've promoted him before on here, I really appreciate his take on things. He seems like a good kid, I wish he'd get even more airtime. Glad to see he's making his way up the media ladder.
His Dave Rubin interview was really good

Nice. I’ll look that up for sure. I really couldn’t believe the conversation they were having. They were actually looking at and referencing data. And the YouTube comments were highly sympathetic and appreciate of the discussion. That was even more surprising.

I look forward to his discussions as while I'm pretty sure there's no way Coleman is voting Trump, or may never vote R in his life. And while he's not overtly on the #Blexit train, he's tiptoed right up to it.
I like the way he openly questions everything and does not take any position based on the fact that he's a young black male. He encourages others to just think for themselves, no matter where you lean. I wish we'd see more minority communities take this position instead of the intersectional monolithic mindset.

After what he said about acb, he can die in a fire.

I think Maher is delusional with Trump not leaving office, but I think he sees the writing on the wall. He knows that Democrats learned nothing from 2016 and is pissed off with it.

Yeah. Bill is dead wrong about her. But he’s also as anti religious as they come. It’s probably his main thing he hates the most in terms of society.

Bakari Jones is a scumbag.
So is Maher.
So is Maher.

And Hughes saying that if the police came in a white woman’s house that she wouldn’t have been killed is insane. He opened fire on the police first. Now I’m also sympathetic to the person who opened fire on the police since he thought it may have been a very violent drug dealer looking to frick them up, but you change the races then it’s still the same result: Breeona would be killed. It’s why the authorities are not prosecuting him for firing on police. Here’s what killed Breeona Taylor:
1) No knock warrants
2) The War on Drugs
Revoke both of them. That’s the problem, not police brutality in this case.

Although the warrant was no knock, witnesses, as in PLURAL, in the apartment complex stated that several of the police announced themselves.
No knock are for just what the cops encountered, a person shooting first if they announce themselves.
The cops should have followed the warrant and not knocked, THEN she might still be alive.

Coleman Hughes is a great young mind and not one thing he said was inaccurate. The other gentleman and Maher both spoke a litany of inaccurate statements. I wish there could be a fact checker for liberals like they do for conservatives!

Coleman Hughes said the exact opposite in that clip.

The only thing I caught was he said it was a no knock warrant which I believe has been disproven.

Here is the thing about Maher, he is a true liberal, and he would agree with most on this board about this particular issue. The fact that he brings a guy like Coleman Hughes on the show knows where he sides on this, he just can't alienate his audience. There was a time back before Covid where he had Joy Reid on the show and played Trump saying the same thing about black neighborhoods as Cory Booker, then proceeded to ask Reed why its ok for Booker to say and not Trump. She got so flustered and just said, "its the way he (Trump) says it."

I’m not familiar with Bakari Sellers, but Coleman Hughes is great. Gonna give this a watch before bed tonight. Thanks!

Also, when a white person kills a black person it is automatically racially motivated to these idiots. Like it’s impossible that one of them just happened to be white and one of them just happened to be black.

Sellers either doesn’t know what he’s talking about or he’s lying his arse off (or both).
