It would be epic if Trump vetoed this. Would they have enough votes to pass it without his signature?

I hope he does as I see this as an attempt to muzzle his supporters.

This will never make it past a veto.

Even if it does, the Fair Use Act is already precedent.

Attempting to destroy memes.

Yet again, the Republicans can't sustain even a marginal offensive.

The only thing they can agree on is destroying our rights.
Or protecting the rights of those who CREATE intellectual property…

I actually would have expected this to be a forum on which the majority would support protecting the rights of those who own property from infringement by those who seek to appropriate that private property.

I guess that concept only applies when the misappropriation is not entertaining or humorous.

The photographer who created this image spent a day of his time and hired three models to undertake this photoshoot and create images for sale in the stock image market. He has not made one red cent of all of the misappropriation of his image.

Needs to be a "Free Speech/Fair Use" exemption for non-commercial use.

Well this is not a libertarian argument at all. It is being used as a parody or joking manner by individuals who usually are not profiting on the image. While you have a point if businesses and/or individuals profit it off said image, this legislation would disproportionately affect non-income generating users of it.

I'm also willing to bet there is already legislation out there in regards to using it in a profit based manner.

I disagree strongly. There are plenty of images available in the public domain and pretty much everyone in the country owns a camera.

There is absolutely no necessity for stealing copyrighted material when you feel like being cute.

Let’s use the well-known image of the boyfriend with the roving eye.

What are the chances that that photographer (who expended time money and effort in creating the image) can now actually sell that image on the stock image market? Zero, right? Who is going to buy an image that is already flooding the Internet?

Everyone who used (and/or altered) his image decreased the value of his property by misappropriating the image for their own use

You think libertarians do not support private property rights?

OK.
