It’s a huge letdown adding huge numbers to national debt. And anyone who actually thought no tax on tips or no tips on OT would be anything close to that was just fricking naive. It’s big ugly shite bill and that’s what it should be called.

This is what really gets me and overrides any good that can be found in this bill:

"While I love many things in the bill, promising someone else will cut spending in the future does not cut spending."

Why are we the only ones with broken toes from kicking the can so often. Congress needs some broken toes, legs, pinky fingers, etc.

ETA: and I do have to keep reminding myself over 3 trillion of that 'spending' is actually tax cuts; that does moderate it some. Have to look at both, spending in absolute dollars and deficit numbers. Both matter.

But what does that have to do with my post?

You asked what you forgot. I mentioned tax cuts. That was it.

IS this spending bill really an absolute train-wreck?

Train wreck? No. Over-hyped placebo? Yep.

And here's another excellent interview and overview given by Rep. Thomas Massie on the "Big Beautiful Bill". Love 'em or hate 'em, Tom Massie is the ONLY Congressman reporting directly to the people.

I mean that's not true and it's not even close. I respect Massie and agree with him on many things, but to say he's the ONLY Congressman reporting directly to the people is bullshite.

Steak for Breakfast podcast has 6-10 conservative Congressmen a week. Charlie Kirk does as well. Louder with Crowder does. PBD occasionally has conservative Congressmen, and on and on and on.

Gotta love all of these hypocrites who never made one critical comment during 4 years of Obama/Brandon. Excuse me if I don't take the 4cubbies and boosies of the world seriously.

Yep. Which is why all tariffs should be eliminated. How do you propose that is achieved?

Dropping all of ours and let businessmen negotiate their own trade deals.

So you folks that are always anti-Trump, do you think that harris would have been better? Sometimes we need to be thankful for what we have and not complain about what we don't.

Is it? What if we take into account context and regularity of "reporting directly"?

Yeah, but are they consistent updating the public on policies, positions, bills and breaking it all down like Massie?

Is any one else reporting on the "Big Beautiful Bill"? If so please link me.

I'm not anti Trump. If he would stop lying and meddling, he might do a great job.

His narcissism was built for foreign policy. He does fine there.

I am anti liberal spending Trump. He;'s no different than Joe or Obama in a fiscal sense.

As long as the other countries do the same, it could work. Thing is, those other countries won't. Many countries have other barriers to trade for out products. Essentially stopping our products from being sold in their country at all. It's not a tarrif, it's much worse than tariffs. Stop being a negative nancy and let things play out. Ever started a workout program? The first few weeks can be absolutely MISERABLE (depending on your starting condition). If you only look at the pain, you'll quit long before any significant health gains are realized. But if you stick with the program, you'll be much better off...

Shouldnt matter, its not your government doing business, its private entities.

MAGA clearly wants more central control.

This is just Massie trying to sabotage Trump. He doesn’t even care enough to negotiate with the GOP.

Massie would just give us more CRs and eventually a Democrat spending bill. He’s much worse than what we get in the Big Beautiful Bill.
