Idiots at the service of a hoax are throwing monkey wrenches into the economic works and telling us how great it will be.

Biden cracks down on diesel trucks in bid to fight climate change, reduce emissions

quote:

The trucking industry warns these stringent new measures could have far-reaching economic repercussions

quote:

The Environmental Protection Agency announced the new regulations Friday morning, and officials said they represent the strongest-ever greenhouse gas emissions standards of their kind. The rules will kick in beginning in 2026 for model year 2027 vehicles and progressively become more stringent through model year 2032, forcing a larger number of trucks and buses to be zero-emissions in that time frame.

quote:

White House Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi. "By tackling pollution from heavy-duty vehicles, we can unlock extraordinary public health, climate, and economic gains."

I hope that if Trump wins he announces a suspension of all of this bullshite during his inaugural address, pending final determination after 90 days as required by the APA.

The truck manufacturers still do not have their DEF systems working properly...

More rules brought to you by people that have never done a damn thing in their life...

How much would the battery weigh to power a container ship?

I might look that up

Edit: Holy crap

quote:

On July 26 2023, COSCO Shipping launched a 700TEU electric container vessel at COSCO Shipping’s No.1 Heavy Industry Shipyard at Yangzhou. The 120 meter long ship has a fully electric drive with 1,800 [kW] of total installed power. It is able to swap battery packs en route, enabling it to covering over 600 nautical miles of routes on the Yangtze River fully electrically without having to moor and recharge.

quote:

costs for the battery pack are estimated at €16-€25M,

But here's the best part

The energy content in Diesel fuel is so far superior to alternatives that there should be no argument. Sure diesel smells rough but the efficiency is fantastic. GMC has a 3.0 liter Turbo diesel 1/2 ton pickup that gets in the mid-30s MPG and can tow 10,000 lbs. Compare that to a V8 gas powered engine in the same truck that gets 1/2 that MPG. Diesel flat out makes more energy & does more work than any viable alternative.

I'm hoping I didn't miss it, but this isn't targeting smaller personal use diesels is it? They run cleaner than gas vehicles.

It really is superior. The Karens think it’s dirty and gross, though - so it must be banned.

Zaidi is a native paki lawyer.
What he knows about emissions, economics and business is zilch.
This policy is to cause inflation, destroy the economy and undermine the US.

The ship should have sails, solar panels, and wind turbines on the top also so it's self sustaining.

Brake dust and tire wear produce more emissions than people realize.

You know what causes more brake dust and tire wear???

EV that on average are 30-60% heavier than your standard ICE vehicle.
