We shouldn't. That's never been the argument or complaint about what happened. In fact, even Trump supported getting out.

But you either fell hook, line, and sinker for the conflation of the issue, or you are just pushing the same propaganda.

The US Military's motto is "Leave no Soldier behind", but we are getting good at leaving Nations behind. Nobody is going to trust us in the future.

Explain to me how this happened in rational, reasonable steps and how we would do it different the next time to ensure success. We've been there 20 years and the Taliban are apparently fully mobilized and the so called people of Afghanistan are a bunch of useless turds.

Someone is lying. Either they've been lying about where our money has been going and what we've been doing, lying about what's going on right now, or lying about what we're trying to accomplish. You tell me.

Until we can assure it won't happen again, we need to stop trying. We don't have a plan, neither did we try very hard, to fix these clowns.

And quite frankly, their skirt is too damn short.

It's true! Like the S Vietnamese, they turned tail and ran instead of fighting for their country.

Your hate for this administration is blinding you from the facts. Afghanistan was always a lose-lose for the US. Like one Taliban leader stated, America has the clock, but they have the time. We were never planning to stay there forever, so it was only a matter of time.

This is very confusing for me. For the last four years with Trump, the country has been very anti-war. I don't understand why we're suddenly dying to get in somewhere even Republicans have been complaining about getting out of for at least 15 years.

Why would Afghan soldiers be proud of their country, to the point of fighting and dying for it?

Their government, for over a decade...was a puppet of our country. They had no dignity. No pride.

They were brave enough to fall from the plane, but not brave enough to fight for their country, wives, and children.

IDK, I lean more to the fact that more Afgan soldiers died per year on average that all the US and ally forces deaths combined for the 20 year period pointing to them being fine fighting for their country. What people refuse to understand is that the Taliban fight a style different than anyone else in the world. They are closer to Shermans "Total War" but then to an even bigger extreme. They tell the afgan soldiers that if they fight, they will murder their wives, childern, brother, sisters, parents, in the most brutal way possible.

On top of that the Taliban has huge numbers within the Afgan army. People don't realize this. When we kicked the Taliban out 20 years ago, thousands of them actually stayed and were absorbed in the army so that they didnt have to flea to pakistan and leave their families. They were just waiting for the Taliban to come back. So any legit Afgan soldier that wanted to fight against the Taliban also had to worry about the person fighting next to them, were they ultimately going to turn on them? This is not the same as fighting a foreign invader, that is easy to rally your troops around. These people were fighting their brothers, cousins, neighbors. They were told if you put down your arms, both you and your family will be spared. There are also reports of the Taliban paying these soldiers to surrender, the same soldiers that were due serious backpay while their President fled the country with "Too much cash to carry it all in the helicopter".

There were a lot of good, honest Afgan forces that were willing to fight the Taliban, but once the US and allies left they knew they didn't have shot. There was no leader there to hold the ranks and there was no one to expose the atrocities of the Taliban to the global stage. Its sad.

Like pretty much everyone else. I thought we should have left the country too, but this was clearly done with little preparation. The administration failed to do the hard work to set up a likely successful withdrawal. There are reports, and its fairly obvious, that they completely went against the military advisors, favoring the intel community which was split.

Good. Tired of financing everyone else’s defense while our country rots from the inside. Time for our “allies” to take care of themselves.

The biggest lesson here is we gave them everything they needed to defend a country EXCEPT A COUNTRY.

Countries exist in the mind, and in their mind they didn't have one, so why would they fight?

This is a good talking point that will help the mass media Leftist propaganda machine rehab Tough Joe. I expect to hear this talking point reiterated very much in the coming days.

I'm more convinced than ever that Tough Joe will survive this kerfluffle - US mass media won't fail to support him because after all that is truly their only mission and reason for existence.

Tough Joe says, "If you Afghans aren't willing to fight and die for your country like WE Americans are, then WE Americans aren't going to do your fighting and dying for you." He comes off sounding like a blue-collar, lunch bucket toting, rough tough American who is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and fight, but, who will not abide a coward - and the Afghans ARE cowards, so, Tough Joe leaves them to their fate.

It's perfect. I now clearly see how this propaganda effort will evolve and manifest itself in its final form. Paired with "Trump's Doha Agreement is to blame", this is a very good propaganda strategy.
