This would completely screw business that have a heavy traveling presence. Construction companies, service, salesmen, etc. Dems will never stop coming to get every penny!

I’m sure established businesses will successfully lobby for exemptions and it'll be small businesses and independent workers paying the bills.

And pay more of it, since they can't afford the new 20-30 mpg cars. Why not just increase the gas tax? It's already there and the collection mechanism is in place.

Think of the waste and inefficiency in implementing an odometer tax. Right up liberals' alley.

He spoke fondly of a mileage levy, which would tax travelers based on the distance of the journey instead of on how much gasoline they consume.

These fricking pie-in-the-sky communists really are too stupid to consider that people will begin scaling back when and where they travel. You know, because people are generally averse to increased taxation and instinctively try to figure out how to not pay more taxes.

People who own businesses deduct expenses from their profit. This is just a way to destroy the middle class salary earners.

Prog posters, you all voted for this sham and turned away and even pretended no fraud took place to get Dementia Joe in office. Fair share will have a real new look in the next couple of years.

You are addressing them like they actually show up in threads about the stupidity of what they voted for.

A gas tax that is 100% dedicated to infrastructure is typically worth considering.

But with these thieves, that is a no go.

Seems like this ought to violate some constitutional rights.

If the mileage tax applies to trucking, then it’s really a grocery and durable goods tax.

The best way to track mileage driven is to track movement thru sensors and satellites. They know how to do this. Either an existing XM radio or a smartphone or something be.

The goals here would be to track people’s movement as much or more than revenue. Tracking and controlling movement has always been the goal of EVs and AVs (autonomous vehicles). They are always planning.

I can’t wait until the people turn on Democrats. Not talking about Republicans but the middle and the moderate left. Anyone right of the far left elite. If Democrats keep up with this shite there’s no amount of media gaslighting that could help. Keep it coming.

NO

No more taxes of any kind until they quit spending and wasting money that they don't have to fund things that we don't need.

It is all part of the plan to limit freedom and gain full control of people.

The whole green initiative is the same thing. Green projects and energy pay less and create very little jobs. O&G on the other pays well and employees a tremendous amount of people along with having a massive trickle down effect on economies.

I really think they are going for the hunger games model.

Add to that the concerted effort to destroy private and small businesses.

I would be fine with a mileage tax if when it was implemented they repealed the gas tax.

The electric car driving tree huggers need to pay for roads, not just the fossil fuel drivers.

But im sure the politicians wouldnt get rid of the gas tax, but add the mileage tax, that way they could double dip.

Similar to my support of a flat tax or a VAT if the income tax was removed. Then everyone pays their "fair portion". The tax law could be just a couple of sentences, instead of 10,000 pages.
