Nothing in what you posted requires an establishment and a long term plan. Shootings happen naturally. People kill people and always have. That will sway some to be against guns. No establishment needed. Despite this, our gun rights have expanded significantly since over the last 30 years. The establishment is pretty bad at this game if they're plotting, but I believe it's simply pro-gun and anti-gun arguing with no master oversight.

Sure, and the establishment will use whatever they can to influence the public. Social engineering is real.

Again, it's a slow boil.

Power and control.

Thanks - I knew of the substance of that research but did not recall the MKUltra moniker.

Why wait anyway? Australia took away guns quickly. And, no, I don't believe Americans would physically fight the government confiscating them despite all of the bluster. When it comes down to it, it's not 1840 and people are too comfortable to risk their lives over their guns.

WTF? Your liberal progressive side is showing.

I don't have a liberal progressive side. You're missing the point I'm making with that statement.

Slow boil? Frost is starting to form on the sides of the pot. It's not some controlled master plan if it has taken decades or even a century and it's yet to come to fruition. It's simply an ebb and flow between pro gun and anti gun folks.

Power and control, fine. But that doesn't mean it's a particular few, an elite. Every generation has its new brokers. That will always be. Those in power now will pass and others will fill the void.

When what you wrote is your view point, then I feel that your liberal progressive side is showing. I find it hard to believe that you grew up in Covington with that mindset unless you are under 25 or something. The mindset that people would give up their guns so they can "stay comfortable" in their current lives shows a disconnect to conservative values imho. Your basically saying trust the government, and only the government, with your safety. I'll pass.

I'd be shocked if it didn't. Heck, one might be ongoing right now.

I'm just pointing out that the media has been engaging in nothing but "conspiracy theories" for the past 2 years. It's so incredibly hypocritical.

It was really funny when in protest of Trump saying that the media was conspiring against him and using the same set of talking points 300 media outlets all ran the same op-ed to show their solidarity that they don't coordinate or conspire against him.

You are drawing an equivalence between an investigation that has a number of indictments and guilty pleas, a meeting between trumps son and top campaign brass with Russians under the pretense of attaining campaign dirt, and a friend/former campaign manager who was in contact with the fricking GRU to a Gumbopot false flag thead involving CIA shooting up a school dude.

You might want to consider a break.

For tax fraud and taxi medallion shenanigans from 10 years ago. Not one of the indictments or convictions which have come to light have had anything to do with the previous election, let alone with any Russian meddling, and you know that.

Literally the only shred of evidence in the entire "Russians hacked the election" narrative is the testimony by Crowdstrike, a 3rd party paid for by the democratic party who was permitted to examine their servers. The FBI never examined the servers and neither did any other law enforcement or intelligence agency, yet they all parrot the crowdstrike report. Doesn't that seem just a little bit fishy and tenuous? That the server was completely destroyed after crowdstrike examined it so no one else could see it? Doesn't that seem just a little bit suspect?

Great job not defending your position and instead engaging in ad-hominems. You should run for political office.
