Not suprised. He’ll compete.

And his smooth talking is a natural contrast to Trumps harsh style - will seem attractive to voters who care more about the person than the platform or accomplishments. And people who are growing tired of Trumps twitter tirades.

For the record- I like Trumps twitter rants when they aren’t hurling personal insults. I think that may cost him some votes tho.

Edit: looking at the downvotes, this board clearly lacks objectivity sometimes.

According to Wiki, this is the extent of this guy's non-governmental experience:

quote:

Business career (1995–2005)
Following college, O'Rourke worked as a live-in nanny for a family in Manhattan, then at Hedley's Humpers as an art mover, before working with his uncle at a startup Internet service provider.[16][36] During this time, he fell into a depression, unsure of what to do with his life.[16] However, his friends Stevens and Klahr (along with his friend from Columbia University, David Guinn) joined him in New York, and they rented and renovated an inexpensive 2,000-square-foot factory loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.[16] Interested in the publishing industry, he found a job as a proofreader at H. W. Wilson Company in the Bronx, and wrote short stories and songs in his free time.[18][16] He began to miss his family and lifestyle in El Paso,[16] and returned to the city in 1998.[37]

After coming home, O'Rourke wanted to tackle the "brain-drain" of El Paso, or the exodus of youth because of lack of opportunity.[16] The following year, he co-founded Stanton Street Technology, an Internet services and software company that develops websites and software.[36][38] His wife, Amy, operates the business as of March 2017.[39] For a few years, the company also published an online (and briefly print) newspaper, also called Stanton Street, that O'Rourke modeled on alternative periodicals like The Village Voice and New York Press.[16] O'Rourke was involved with civic organizations and nonprofit groups such as El Paso's Rotary Club chapter, United Way branch, and Center Against Sexual and Family Violence. He also sat on the boards of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and of the Institute for Policy and Economic Development at UTEP.[40]

I see how Chris Matthews thinks he's the democrat version of Trump.

Smooth talking? He says nothing. And he bobs and weaves, moving around so much while he speaks that he is almost unwatchable, because your eyes get tired from the constant movement!

What a sad state of affairs.
Nothing but unqualified candidates or out-right socialists.
The only way the Dems can get votes is by using Gov subsidies to individuals... or emotions.
Their ideas are absolutely terrible for the working class (or tax payers in general).

More like the whiter version of Obama.

He's an empty suit with nothing but platitudes.

Agree. But he sounds good saying nothing so people don’t realize he hasn’t said anything of substance.

True; but sadly, in comparison, Obama was massively more qualified than this vapid idiot.

Frightening, isn't it?

Agreed. He reminds me a lot of Obama.

Unqualified and phony but a smooth talker who can fake being likeable.

Indeed. I got skewered for saying Beto will lose by 2-3 or win outright

People are underestimating this dumbass. Out of all the races, he netted so much outside money it was ridiculous.

I could beat out Biden.

He never won a single primary in two presidential runs.

Depending on the view of Trump's vulnerability, I could see him possibly giving the keynote speech at the DNC in 2020 a la Obama in 2004, and then roll him out in 24.
