Grassley’s days have certainly passed him by for the most part. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for him, the first time I met him. It was at his farm in Iowa, and when I showed up, he was out in shorts and a T-shirt, knowing his lawn on a riding lawnmower. The first time I met with a sitting US senator he was all sweaty from a day of labor around his farmstead, and we sat on his porch and drank iced tea. He’s hung on too long but at his core he is a good man.
