If you have gas made from $70 a barrel oil shouldn't there be a lag in the increasing price of gas...we all know if the price dropped dramatically, it wall fall much slower than it rose.

Straight out of the Liz Warren playbook. Bessent stole it from her.

Prices at the pump will always be based on the predicted future supply decline of oil. IMO that’s not the issue. The issue is the second part of the equation where prices are much slower to fall in the face of alleviated fears of future supply decline.

Since OP and that clickbait fraud Daughtery said/typed “oil and gas companies”…

Bessent warns gas stations that Treasury Dept will keep them 'honest' after spike in prices

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent issued a veiled warning to gas stations that jacked up the prices on consumers under the guise of global oil supply concerns: President Donald Trump will be watching.

"We'll be looking at Treasury to try to keep the retail gas stations honest — that you did this on the way up, better be doing this on the way down," Bessent told the CNBC Invest in America Forum on Wednesday morning. "And I am sure the president will call out anyone who's a bad actor."

Need to clean up the title to say gas stations and not oil and gas companies. Big difference between the two.

Only so many characters are allowed in the title...I tried.

i think it is an issue for all of us. Seems like they would have data showing how slow the price drop is compared to the rise

Sure, most of us buy gas.

It's not an issue for the Federal Government.

It only goes up in big chunks. I've been driving 50 years and have never seen similar drops overnight. If you have evidence of such, please post.
