The U.S. military could have prevented one wave of the deadly attack on American personnel in Benghazi if fighter jets had been promptly deployed, a top diplomatic official who was in Benghazi during the Sept. 11 assault told congressional investigators.
quote:
The account, contained in a transcript obtained by Fox News, was given by Gregory Hicks during an interview last month with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Hicks, a whistle-blower who is preparing to testify Wednesday before that committee, was deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya -- after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed that night, he became the highest-ranking diplomat on the ground.
"And so, in my personal opinion, a fast-mover flying over Benghazi at some point, you know, as soon as possible might very well have prevented some of the bad things that happened that night," Hicks said, according to the transcript.
"I believe if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced, I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split," he said. "They would have been scared to death that we would have gotten a laser on them and killed them."
Hicks suggested the Libyan government expected a request to use their airspace, and claimed the Libyans "were as surprised as we were" that U.S. military personnel did not arrive until later on.

CBS News is reporting that Benghazi witness Greg Hicks told congressional investigators that "a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa."
Hicks also reported that SOCAFRICA commander Lt. Col. Gibson and his team were prepared to board a C130 from Tripoli before the attack on the Benghazi annex. Gibson received a call saying "you can't go now, you don't have the authority to go now.' And so they missed the flight ... They were told not to board the flight, so they missed it."

Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News reports that an eyewitness on the ground at Benghazi was refused repeated requests for help.
"We relied on Washington for dispassionate assessment," one eyewitness told CBS News. "Instead, they [Washington officials] were asking us what help we needed. We answered: 'Send reinforcements!' "
But they were told immediate help wasn't available.
Embassy personnel say they repeatedly asked the Defense Attache on site in Tripoli for military assistance.
"Isn't there anything available?" one Embassy official says he asked. "But the answer was 'no.'"
"What about Aviano?" the official pressed, referencing the NATO air base with US assets in northeastern Italy. "No," was the answer.

Scheiffer stuck his neck out on Benghazi and he's probably pissed.
Plus, you KNOW Sherryl Atkinson is still fuming about Fast and Furious and she's probably telling him welcome to the party.

This is substantial...

I hate to get my hopes up, but it does appear that there is a lot here to make Obama and Clinton look very, very bad. It will need to be signficant enough as to overwhelm the desire of the MSM to downplay everything regarding Benghazi.

I think when this is all over we will find out that the written investigation Hillary and Carney cite by the prestigious people was whitewashed and provoked and inaccurate somehow.
The last paragraph on the report Carney cites in the video I posted above SAYS IT ALL. Because it says nothing...
It is a contradiction within itself.
"certain senior State Department officials"
However, "the Board did not find that any individual U.S. Government employee engaged in misconduct or willfully ignored his or her responsibilities."

ACCOUNTABILITY OF PERSONNEL
5. The Board found that certain senior State Department officials within two bureaus in critical positions of authority and responsibility in Washington demonstrated a lack of proactive leadership and management ability appropriate for the State Department’s senior ranks in their responses to security concerns posed by Special Mission Benghazi, given the deteriorating threat environment and the lack of reliable host government protection. However, the Board did not find that any individual U.S. Government employee engaged in misconduct or willfully ignored his or her responsibilities, and, therefore did not find reasonable cause to believe that an individual breached his or her duty so as to be the subject of a recommendation for disciplinary action.

BS! Schieffer and CBS are CYA and trying to regain the cred they know they will loose when Wednesday's testimony blows the whole thing apart.
They lost some skin...but got Obama re-elected. Job well done.
Ultimately, it won't matter; they'll remain a Leftist mouthpiece and their low-info listeners will hang with them. And the march *forward* will continue...until it all comes tumbling down...and Mother Nature asserts her authority.
Obama's soft on Muslims policy has now cost us many lives in THREE attacks on our homeland. Ft. Hood, Benghazi and Boston. And it'll continue until a big one. And when it happens...I hope they convene trials like Nueremberg and go after their asses for treason. That's what it really is. All directed at "fundamentally changing this nation"...which IS - in effect - treason.
Mind games. Liars. Disgusting. And costly.

At the beginning of this Benghazi mess, (that Obama and company just wants to go away and be old news) the very same CBS reporter was screamed at. What will they do to her now? Why was this mere fact-of a HUGE red flag- overlooked in continued media investigating Benghazi? Why would the WH SCREAM at a reporter unless they are covering up something? Because it is Obama and because he is half-black he is above the law and dared to be questioned-that's why.

Here's a bit about Tracy Schmaler. The woman that screamed at Attkisson for reporting on Fast and Furious.

Tracy Schmaler, Attorney General Eric Holder’s top press defender, will resign her position on March 8. This reporter recently caught Schmaler colluding with far leftwing advocacy organization Media Matters for America to attack the reputations of whistleblowers, members of Congress, and people in the new media.
quote:
People who were targets of the collusion between Department of Justice press aide Schmaler and far leftwing advocacy organizations called for her resignation in September 2012, when evidence of her activity emerged. Now, they are getting their wish. Emails uncovered last year show Schmaler worked with Media Matters to smear people trying to uncover details about Justice Department scandals. As far back as 2010, Schmaler worked with the George Soros-funded media hit squad to attempt to defame whistleblowers from the New Black Panther Party scandal with regard alleged voter intimidation at a Philadelphia polling place on election day in 2008.

Congress and journalists need to drill down here....
Why were they forbidden? Who gave the order?
The Tracy Schmaler story is pretty interesting too.

It is treason. The saddest thing of all is, if 'a big one' hits. It is too late. It is not right nor feasible to haul a seated POTUS to trial while the country suffers after an attack that sparks such fear. Then we are all screwed. All because of a political party and media putting their politics before country. Are there truly any progressives that post here that wonder why a lot on this forum are upset daily regarding Obama's words and actions.. THIS IS WHY! This is not about right v left. This is our country! The media needs called out to the carpet-right here, and now. Stop attacking a female CBS reporter and address the issues NOW, before it is too late. The core issue of political correctness and the divide in this country Obama causes- ending today!

That is some refreshing news. How many in the Obama admin mirror this womans intentions? Seriously are there any bluedogs remaining? Or just Hillary faking she is one to try to win in 2016?

I'm really hoping the msm feels a little embarrassed and actually do what is right. If not we are truly fricked. No hope.
