re: BBC thinks there's only one issue in Canadian election. Can you guess what it is?

I watched a few minutes of CBC’s opening tonight and they called Trump an existential threat.

Why not work with Trump? It could benefit Canada more to do that than throwing a hissy
Because they're China's round eye bitch and do what they're told

You never answered the question.
Why wouldn’t relations with the US be the single most important political issue in Canada at this point in time?
Side note: Canada has only paper ballots with hand counting, and has results nearly instantaneously with poll closure. Most of our States should take note.

If they don’t play ball, he quite literally is. US tariffs could doom Canada’s economy.
Many of you seem to not understand that people in other countries think about their own country’s well being when voting

I'm shocked they didn't say climate change racism

Funny you deduced that. Trump is the one being combative on trade. The person they're looking to take on Trump doesn't have to take a combative stance. He needs to reason with him because Trump is going full retard.
US presidents have laid down for decades and one comes along who stands up for America. HE gets labeled as the one going full retard. The actual retards are all the other leaders who have allowed us to get into this position in the first place. Trump has wanted someone to fix the trade issues since the 80s. He was almost too patient.

The BBC could have written "to handle trade negotiations." Instead, they wrote "to take on Trump." They knew this would conjure up Trump as the uber-boogeyman.

You’re pointing to a distinction without a difference.

Smartest play in dealing with Trump is no response at all. Just wait and signal willingness to talk… some deference will also play to his ego.

But that's not the Canadian way, don't ya know!

I mean, saying out loud that Canada is nothing but an economic parasite of the U.S. is embarrassing to Canada.
Canada is our most important source of rare earth minerals. Any littls trade imbalance is just silly.

You can't make this up.
Trump keeps banging on about them being the “51st state.”
The conservatives had this in the bag a month ago. Statements like that changed the calculus.
Turns out Canada values their sovereignty. Pierre should have immediately lit into that and didn’t. Who could have guessed.

I hope Trump puts Canada and their authoritarian loving people into a depression.
