Maybe so but he doesn't understand when you borrow money from your credit union you're supposed to repay it.

Judge orders Councilman Matt Watson, a mayoral candidate, to pay $8,400 after defaulting on loan from Campus Federal Credit Union

Watson, but really either him or Carter are fine.

He is my councilman and I think has spent a lot of time and energy actually trying to improve the city. But I would vote for Carter in a runoff.

I'm voting Watson. Watched the forum and Piazza actually did the best, IMO, but I don't know enough about him to trust him. Watson has been council president so I know what he's about.

My only hope in the primary is that Marcelle siphons enough votes to keep SWB from winning outright.

Link? I've never heard him say he would want to raise taxes as mayor.

I’m voting Watson, but look out for Piazza. He impressed a lot of people in the debates and managed to pick up the endorsement of the Parish Republican Executive Committee. I have serious reservations about his previous support for Edwards over Vitter. According to him, it was because Piazza was in the Dardenne camp and when Dardenne endorsed Edwards, that swayed him, but I don’t know if I buy it. Piazza’s pretty young, so I can forgive votes for Obama when he was like 18-25, and the vote for Broome last time because Bodi was awful and Broome sold herself as a business-friendly moderate in the Kip mold.

Carter endorses stay at home orders and mask mandates, so he can get f$&ked. He may as well run as a democrat with that nonsense. He’s basically running to put Tara Wicker in charge.

He impressed me just by being able to see over the podium

He is short, talks really fast, makes big promises he likely has no clue how to keep, went to U-High, has an OT thread worthy wife, part owner of Uncle Earl’s, so I’d say he fits BR pretty well

Watson is just too damn competent. Because he didn’t grow up in Baton Rouge (from Michigan originally) and because his personality can be a little abrasive, people will believe all the dumb rumors swirling around him that were likely planted by the Broome camp with the assistance of his vengeful ex-wife. Granted, the OT would likely love a candidate accused of banging strippers and doing coke.

Piazza voted for Broome, Obama & Hilary IIRC

ETA
I’m voting Watson
It was between Watson & Carter until Carter said he supported the mask mandate & would continue it

Link? I just searched and couldn't find anything like what you claim.

I know Carter sponsored and passed two important bills while he was a state senator.

He made it easier for charter schools to get established and drew rage from the teacher unions for doing so and he made it much more difficult for public school teachers to receive tenure, again pissing off the teacher unions. I liked that.

He mentioned as much in the debates. I pressed him on it in person last week to confirm that he meant that he would support mask mandates and he emphatically endorsed them. He stated that he would defer to the medical experts and that the experts have proven mask effectiveness so he would continue the policy. He crawfished when asked about restrictions on businesses. That’s why Carter didn’t get the RPEC endorsement despite being the best funded candidate with the most name recognition and experience. F$&k him and his tax raising rino arse.

The marks against Watson were his lack of fund raising and nasty rumors about his personal life that the pearl-clutching baptists crowd couldn’t get past.

I think Marcelle will pull more votes away from Broome to cause a run-off. I'm voting Watson for the reasons stated already.

Watson.

SWB, will probably win it as the republicans are splitting up the vote.

All you have to do in Louisiana is split up the republican vote and you can easily win as a democrat if you run for a statewide office.

In EBRP you have to do the opposite as EBRP has more democratic voters.
