Who ya got?

Democrat - Incumbent: Sharon Weston Broome
Democrat: C. Denise Marcelle
Republican: Steve Carter
Republican: Matthew Watson
Republican: Jordan Piazza
Republican Frank Smith III
Independent: E. Eric Guirard

I've been paying too much attention to DC to dig into BR other than a big frick NO to Sharon and Denise.

Any particular reason or was this a blind dartboard pick?

Maybe if only one Republican ran they would get better numbers.

Matt Watson. I don't like Steve Carter. He's a closest Democrat. He is in favor of raising taxes. I also don't like how entered the mayors race on the last day of qualifications.

What's the threshold for a run-off?

Is it almost certain that either Watson or Piazza will make it to a run-off? Or no?

I think he is the only republican that can beat swb. I don’t think Piazza has a chance in hell.

Watson.

As a sitting council member, he understands the power vacuum that the council members from NBR have created and will be poised to stop the blatant power grab they have made at the expense of the betterment of entire parish.

He also comes off as humble enough to do the small thankless work needed to run this Parish. His FB page is a good example.

If no candidate gets 50% + 1 vote there is a runoff between the top two candidates.

Did you guys know that C. Denise Marcelle gave R. Kelly the key to the city. The same R. Kelly that’s a pedophile and likes to pee on people?

- Pro St. George
- Setup the tire recycling deal that Broome squandered
- Looks like he is literally cleaning up the city on the weekends. Whether it's only for political points is your guess, but the other candidates aren't doing that.
- Did not vote for Edwards, Obama, or Broome (like Piazza did)
- Can get an enthusiastic crowd (unlike Carter)

I have no illusions that Broome is going to win. The Republicans have pollluted the field, yet again, with too many candidates, and with our silly jungle primary system, they can't get out of their own way.

I just want SWB out. A really hard task to accomplish. I started out being for Watson. However, I am now leaning Carter. I think he may have the better chance to beat SWB because he appeals more to independents. He has represented a "swing" district for a long time, has the backing of the people with money, he's not as "conservative" as I would like but is level headed and realistic in what can get done given the dynamics of modern day BR. He's an LSU guy and former coach there. Plus his son-in-law Jack Hunt asked me to vote for him. I am just not sure Watson can beat SWB.

Watson

He worked his way through college as a bouncer at Slinky's right by campus if LSU. If you can survive slinky's you can handle the mayors office.
