IMO Barr may understand he's never going to be able to "do Justice" to the corruption in DC and he may be looking for a way out. Trump is happy to give him one by continuing to be Trump and not seeing the bigger picture.
But again it could be all just speculation floated by the Progressives to create doubt and dissension in the R Party.

My feeling is burn the SOBs down.
But that is not where Barr is.
After successive problematic tenures of Freeh, Mueller, and Comey at the FBI, and Holder's weaponized politicization of the DOJ, he has his salvage work cut out for him.
Durham remains to be seen.
The described scope of Durham's charge is expansive.
There are jurisdictional challenges. There is involvement and intense interest of international money opposing him. Issues at stake are far more threatening to ensconced political forces than was Watergate.
Durham's investigation is a process destined to take a while. Barr's original prediction of public announcements in Spring 2020 seemed very aggressive.
However, if this drags into late summer, as the scope would normally demand, any indictments will come across as intensely partisan. So there is pressure to come with earlier indictments.

I agree with this to an extent. Barr should be tasked with removing corruption from the DOJ and should be providing progress/status reports to POTUS.
If he isn’t making progress, replace him with someone who will.
