Bankruptcy is a healthy approach to forcing organizations to cut the rot, nonperforming assets. debt ceiling failure is the fed govt equivalent

If you don't pay the bill, you default. A default or even late payment affects your credit standing. Profligate spending needs to stop, but the cuts being proposed are almost meaningless

First, Default is optional. There is a ton of things that can be cut first.
