The fact that it is government backed discrimination is what makes it wrong.

That should be your right because guess what, ITS YOUR HOUSE. The government doesn't own MY house and they sure as frick aren't going to tell me who I can and can't sell it to. Same with a PRIVATE business

No they aren't forcing them to discriminate. They are telling them it's okay if they do and no legal action can occur to prevent said discriminatory practices.
So where is the government backing? People can refuse to go to the business. People can protest the business.

The only thing that people can't do is take legal action against the business.

If that is what you believed, I'd defend it to my last breath.

Clue me in.

What religion has a doctrine that calls for the discrimination of someone because of the color of their skin?

Someone probably needs to brush up on Fair Housing Laws.

Way to dodge the point I was making. Typical

And fair housing laws are nothing more than affirmative action which is in itself discriminatory and just another erosion to our god given rights

The bills sponsor acknowledged this also allows motels to turn away gays, Jews, and unmarried women.

I have no problem with this. If I live in a neighborhood of dog people and I was selling my house, I probably wouldn't want to sell it to Michael Vick. That's all well and good, but I just missed out on a potential customer. Rather than closing the sale with the dog murderer, my house sits on the market and I lose money. However, it is not the governments job to protect people from bad decisions, as doing so often encourages worse decisions because it prevents people from experiencing the consequences of poor choices. If the home owner is willing to risk losing money because he doesn't want to sell his home to a Jewish couple, that's his choice. Note that this is my personal opinion, not my legal opinion.

oh no don't tell them that. They think this is all about the gays.

As written, the bill will allow a muslim tax cab driver to refuse to drive a woman who is alone to her destination.

Fortunately we have laws preventing such things.

The fact is this bill elevates the religious beliefs of some above the civil rights of others. And if signed means you can violate those civil rights with the help of your friendly arizona government. Just another black eye for the state.

Yes, a homeowner who is very close to his neighbors should be forced to sell his house to a convicted child molester and put his friends' children at risk. It's the American way!

I'm completely fine with people self-segregating themselves. I'm fine with whites only neighborhoods, blacks only neighborhoods, ect if the people of those neighborhoods want it that way. In no way should the government ever enforce that. However, neighborhoods are rarely really and truly segregated by race as much as class.
