Yup.

There are laws against housing discrimination....they are on the books for a reason.

What an interesting world you live in where everyone has the same opportunity to make it.

I wish it was reality.

So?

Then that moron of an owner gets chastised through the many forms of media that we have.

Then again, Asurob1 is the King of Hyperbole. I doubt he believes this will lead to a new Jim Crow era in Arizona. I think this has more to do with his hatred of religion.

So every business that has a "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at our discretion" or a "No shirt, no shoes, no service" sign is run by evil, discriminating bigots?

I think this is a legit question that you are avoiding

We disagree. It's not close to the same thing.

Damn dude, you have an extremely pessimistic view of humanity.

We might as well detonate all of our nuclear weapons and just be done with Earth's era of human inhabitance.

Sorry, still not ok with forcing private entities to offer service so people are happy.

This. The media backlash and subsequent lost revenue from both African American customers and people disgusted by the practice would be enough to punish that idiotic, bigoted small business owner. Unless he was in some place completely devoid of black people, his business would most likely go under.

I hate hypocrisy worse than lying.

This thread is one blatant display of hypocrisy considering the OP's rhetoric on letting people do whatever they want being pro choice and pro gay marriage and I agree with him on those two issues.

You couldn't be more wrong. But then again you usually are.

The fact that it is government backed discrimination is what makes it wrong.

People are frick tards and I fully expect them to discriminate every day.

But this is our government telling people..it's cool we got your backs on this.

THAT is what is wrong with this.

But seriously, like you, I don't want to go back to the dark days of Jim Crow where people are disqualified by the color of their skin from participating in things like Miss Black America, Miss Black USA, Miss Black Universe, scholarship programs run by the United Negro College Fund, etc.

You do recognize that things like that existed BECAUSE whitey wouldn't play nice.

Of course you do.

Oh I have seen humanity at both it worst and best in my 50 or so years.

Gives you a very realistic view of exactly how shitty we are capable of being.

You are completely wrong here and I'm disappointed you can't see that.

The government isn't forcing people to discriminate. If that was the case, you would be correct. There is no force in this situation.

Jim Crowe only existed because the government passed laws mandating it so. Lunch counters weren't generally segregated by the owners, they were segregated by the state and local governments.

If you let business owners make the decisions for themselves, the market will take care of them, and by "take care of them", I mean it in the mafia sense of the word.

Like giving someone a job based on race, not qualifications aka affirmative action

Exactly, that was Jim Crow. This is freedom. Freedom includes being free to be a dick. It just means the consequences of being a dick will not come from government, but by your fellow dickish citizens.

Wrong again.

I think that offering cake toppers to one couple but not another because you know...icky lesbians is discrimination.

See the difference?

I doubt it.

I guess you think a bakery is required to carry every cake topper known to man in their shops. I don't.

No they aren't forcing them to discriminate. They are telling them it's okay if they do and no legal action can occur to prevent said discriminatory practices.

If I don't want to sell my house to you because you know, talking to guys with bushy mustaches is against my religion...well hell now it's game on which is counter to the Fair Housing Discrimination act.

Who do you think trumps in that one the feds or the state?
