This is mostly interesting because Axios, which has been Trump's preferred outlet for Iran War information (although through Barak Ravid), which to me makes this story a possible A/B testing outlet for Trump.

Some of the indy media guys like Greenwald have been skewering Ravid for being a government mouthpiece. But, this is a good sign if they are floating this.

If there is a plan to stop using the Gulf for Gulf oil exports - in other words a U.S. led consortium pipelines the oil outside to a large port outside Iran's influence, so Iran can forever be bottled up, it will take a generation, but it won't require destroying Iran's infrastructure with bombs. They'll collapse under their own backwardness. Look at what the Arabs are doing on the other side of the Gulf with their riches. That's what partnerships with the West yield.

Iran is backward even for an Islamic nation. #Letthatsinkin

This will allow Iran to maintain and accelerate military support from China and Russia.

The longer Ukraine drags on, the worse it gets for Russia.

This is very similar with the US and Iran.

Time favors Iran. They will continue to establish covert supply chains and impose asymmetrical warfare tactics.

US and Israel should resume decapitation strikes until they get someone they can work with.

That's a total misleading headline.

You are selling an idea that on hurts them and the other does not. That's an lazy man's attempt to discredit Trump.

Sanctions may hurt them more. By how much? 5%, 10%??

Combined, and its EVEN MORE.

I think that's your interpretation of what's being sold.

I read it as the media reporting that sanctions are a more effective path in the conflict than kinetic military actions and should therefore be the emphasis. This is effectively what the current ceasefire is, sanctions plus a blockade, so it's not like Trump, in this exact moment, is counter to this position.

As I have stated very many times, I think the only true paths forward are either a ground invasion in Iran to ensure regime change and stabilization or a reversal of our relationship with Israel. I am not opposed to extending military efforts

I get it, you have in your head that Axios is a lib outlet that tries to discredit Trump. But, in this case, almost all breaking news on Iran is coming through Barak Ravid, who apparently used to serve in the Unit 8200 spying unit and IDF. If you want to argue he is pushing Israeli propaganda, I can buy that. But, Ravid has often been quoting Trump directly. So, it seems he is some kind of messenger.

And nowhere in the OP article does it say trump administration is considering this as an alternative it says two anonymous government officials who spoke to axios and that trump has used sanctions before to be effective.

Starving people may soon become desperate people.

Desperation may finally compel the people to take matters into their own hands to address the Islamic Republic regime that has ultimately brought this misery upon them.

Hate to agree but I agree. You can't let this drag. It favors a extremely pissed off extremists government.

When a place is already a shithole, making it more of a shithole has little effect once you destroy any critical military infrastructure which we have

Carpet bombing Tehran and killing civilians won’t help. They kill their own civilians so they don’t give a shite and they’d use the negative press to turn the world against us

Meh.... that's a ridiculous statement.
Destroying power plants, bridges, rail roads, airport runways is a great addition to sanctions. Once Iranians get hot and hungry enough, they'll turn on the regime.
I do believe Trump needs to do exactly whats listed above quickly and walk away. Tell the ME countries to keep Iran in check.

I dont get the issue here or why Trump would be upset?

The whole statement is metaphorical anyway lol. Sanctions are legal actions that certainly did a lot of 'damage' but they sure as shite didnt kill the majority of their government and military leadership and atomize their nuclear facilities

Normal people can see that.
