What it says is that if you have captured a woman in war (she is now your slave), and you decide she is beautiful and want to make her your wife, you can let her mourn for a month, then rape her, and take her as your wife. Nowhere in there is there any mention of any of this being consensual or, "if she agrees".

Instead, it says she is to shave her head and if you get tired of her throw her to the streets having been humiliated.

Back then, if that happens to a woman, it's about the worst thing that can happen. A spoiled woman. A pariah.

Here in America a sociology professor will tell you that nearly a full third of the women in our society either have been or will be raped at some point in their lives. We also pillage when we go to war. Read the stories of American forces going straight into museums and looting ancient artifacts upon the sacking of Iraq and other places. It still happens here too. And someone in the Arab world would be happy to tell you about it.
