I disagree Geaux. This is an American problem.

The point being, asking one part of government why another part of the government didn't do something... is a waste of time.

This is a Joe and State Department debacle, the military didn't make any of these decisions.

Being a rude bitch doesn't help your nonsense. I think those two are some stupid arse dudes, regardless the decisions have nothing to do with the military.

The military's job was to withdraw by order, that is what they did.

According to Austin we just need to “de-conflict” this affair.

Cotton was taking shots on Fox just now and Petraus was backing Austin and Milley hard. Tells me Milley and Austin will have bipartisan support and this will be positioned as a "military doing the best they can given the State Department and Biden put them in a disastrous situation" which is very easy narrative for people to get behind.

They all are going to need to be replaced. they can't be effective after this.

They are replaceable. Unfortunately we are stuck with Biden for the next 3.5 years

What Geaux is saying is correct, the Military portion of the drawdown was executed professionally.

That being said, the question becomes who owned this portion of the withdrawal...probably the State Dept. It appears all they were focused on was writing very strongly worded memo's and flying woke flags. They didn't make any plans for this scenario.

But, now that the debacle has been exposed, this is an all hands on deck problem for the government. The Military and the State Department can have their slap fight after everyone is home. Right now they should all be working together to get ALL of our people home.

That is what the United States agreed to, he is simply following orders.

What other choice is there anyway?

Get Rambo?

For the Afghanistan military, remember they are "well equipped".

They asked if efforts would be made to get it back I think. The answer to that is pretty much no if I recall.

All of the equipment was left in the hands of the Afghan army who promptly abandoned anything they hadn't already sold to the Taliban.

It was supposed to be used by the Afghans to defend their country.

Those people are effectively hostages of the Taliban. Our nuts are in a vise and it shows.

These people, or at least a good portion of them, are probably raped, tortured, and dead and they don't even know it.

Every day that passes, the Taliban will not be able to hold back its savage soldiers, or will just not want to.

I feel as rotten thinking of these people as I did on 9/11.

This is horrible, horrible.

Those incompetent fricktards will likely get to retire with a golden parachute, while they abandon thousands of Americans to a brutal death.

Words aren't bad enough to describe this lack of leadership.

Well, I think he is a dipshit, but I don't see anything wrong with his answers in this press conference.

This is a State Departement mission, the military is basically assisting. You guys just don't like the answers.

Not that I heard, but Milley's pronoun use was ON POINT.

Not the US problem they refused to fight. Then you clowns who claim we abandoned them ( after 20 years & 2 withdrawal deadlines) would accuse the US of taking the weapons those brave Afghans needed to fight the Taliban.
