It's interesting how people who lived through their "traitorship" thought enough of them to allow them to be honored alongside everyone else, but 160 years later we've got it much more figured out, and can boldly and courageously cast them aside, spitting on their memories.

Traitor to who? As if the North has a claim of ownership over the South? Or how about this, the FedGov were overstepping their powers and the states exercised their inherent rights to peacefully leave the Union.
The South even went as far as to offer to pay for their share of the National debt and pay for the US military bases and other assets.
The Yankee North wanted none of it and wanted all the power.
