Most of the stuff you're describing is the result of Progressives being in charge of everything. Anywhere there are progs in leadership, things go to shite. Refusing to enforce laws is a progressive thing.
Colorado also ramped up first, so they're a big producer and exporter to surrounding states. We can buy Colorado stuff here now, although at first when Medical was introduced, 90% of it was locally grown and manufactured.
Arkansas did medical in a relatively conservative way. It has gradually loosened over the years, but they require a certain percentage to be produced locally, and limited the number of licenses to grow and sell. It's pretty easily acquired by anyone who wants it now, anyway.
I don't foresee myself using more of it when it is legal recreationally. I'm no more likely to smoke it in public than I am now. I wouldn't expect a great deal of weed tourism from adjoining states. Oklahoma has the most lax "medical" laws I've ever heard of. It is basically already recreational 25 miles away from my house. People in Oklahoma just across the border grow it in their garages and literally anybody who wants a card for any reason whatsoever has one.

I was passing by one of the cabals of dispensaries in Louisiana one day, and there was armed guards in bulletproof vests delivering the stuff from a van.

I hate to tell you but recreational MJ is coming in Louisiana as well.
The politicians are slow playing it while big tobacco/alcohol get their planning and infrastructure in place.

States legalizing it is great but need federal. Corporations will still classify it as a drug and not accept medical marijuana prescription until federal legalizes it.

Whether the people voted for MMJ or not, the Louisiana MMJ system is a bonafied racket. Prices extremely high and some folks including politicians are making out like bandits.
That said, the dispensary in Lake Charles does a good job other than the pricing. No armed guards or any security issues.
If the Southern Baptists (of which I am one) and other holy roller tribes would mind their own business, this issue would resolve itself.
I look forward to visiting Arkansas often, hopefully in the near future….

It'll pass. Every poll I've seen shows it passing. I'm not sure the legislature can get too screwy with its implementation this time around, either.
The 2012 medical marijuana vote was something like 20,000 votes from passing. 10 years ago that was surprising in a state like Arkansas. 2016 passed no problem.
It won't cause chaos. It won't cause much of anything. My hope is that it helps with the opiod epidemic some and people get their kicks from weed rather than other worse stuff.

Bruh, how much more open can it get in Oklahoma? It is literally like a registration-required recreational situation there. I have a business license in Oklahoma, and I think I could get a card there if I needed to. Siloam Springs is like 25 minutes away.

Problem is it becomes defacto gun control. If you are a user, fill out a 4473 and tell the truth and see what happens. You want rec pot? Sure, but you can no longer purchase weapons to protect yourself or your family. They don't give a shite about your constitutional rights, because they don't have to. Nobody makes them.

Can you explain this a little more for me? It seems like any of my more traditionally minded friends throw the gun control talking point out & my beatnik friends say it's hogwash. Not sure what's what on the medical MJ card / gun purchasing stuff.
