So raise payroll taxes, print and/or grow.
The pain has to come from somewhere. Either the front end, back end, or middle but the pain is unavoidable.

I singled out the one person who creates the most hypocrisy in the history of this board. People project this desire for smaller government/spending (like OP) but then support a person/movement opposed to this desire. You don't get to LARP as a "small government conservative" or a "fiscal conservative" and support Trump/MAGA anymore. You chose big spending.

Just because Democrats know this gives them a political advantage doesn't excuse acting like Democrats.
And it especially means that anyone pretending that you can act like Democrats and pretend to oppose Democrats is a hypocrite.
If you adopt Democrat principles, you give up the ability to criticize Democrats or pretend you oppose them.

How do say “Doge” in Spanish?

The problem with the SS system is the dead weight. The people that are pulling more from it than putting or have put in it.
Where DOGE can help is identifying the dead weight and proposals to reduce it.

DOGE is a nothingburger in the big picture. You could cut all of that spending to $0 and it wouldn't change much. Just not enough money to fix things.
You have to start somewhere.
The idea that doing something like DOGE is a "nothingburger" is silly.
And reforming social security can come later.
Just keeping us out of the forever wars would solve most of our problems.

It's not TDS. I said I wish he would do what Millei did. This is what we're getting instead What's the issue with that comment about Trump within the context of OP and what I quoted?
It’s all Trump’s fault according to you. That’s the problem. You didn’t say, I hope Trump AND THE CONGRESS can fix the budget. You only pointed at Trump. This is why no one takes you seriously, you have TDS brain rot

There isn't enough money to cover our deficits, let alone get a surplus to address the debt-interest. It's almost equal to our current interest payments (which only grow every year and will explode with the inflation-fighting interest rates we will have to have for the foreseeable future).
I posted the numbers on page 1.

He specifically campaigned on not doing what Millei did.

Trump's platform makes Congress irrelevant to the discussion.
Are we not to judge Trump on his actual platform? If he has his way, he can veto any theoretical (however unlikely) Congressional attempt to fix this.

I follow some Argentine expat sites. The one thing they say is things are getting much more expensive there. It is still much less expensive for an American to move there but the native people do not have the wages to keep up with the inflation.
However the inflation rate does seem to be slowing. If Milei can get that part under control he will go down as one of the best leaders in Argentine history.
If not they will run him off like the rest.

There hasn't been a movement to even stop government spending from increasing in modern history, much less make cuts.
Someone finally pledges to make actual cuts and the response is "that's not enough"
I probably want government cut deeper than 99.9 percent of the populace. I'm ok with people starving to death in the ditch.
But I also understand that coming out of the gate with Social Security in your cross hairs is not politically smart.
Just keeping us out of wars and nation-building would solve most of the problems we currently have.

If you're not slashing those 4 programs, you're not making a real difference.
Trump has promised to protect/expand 3/4 of those spending programs.
You can protect and/or expand those things and still spend less money. There is massive amounts of waste and fraud in those departments. However, touching any of those things is the third rail of American politics. If any President has to have a very well developed and thought out plan of how to cut spending without negatively affecting those programs if he is going to touch them and cut them which I agree needs to be done. That is what DOGE is for.

Yea, he should have ran on cutting social security and the military. The sniper probably wouldn't have missed.

But spending less money becomes less relevant with the debt expansion since 2019, especially when combined with the interest rate hikes needed to fend off the inflation caused by that same spending in 2020 and 2021. Our interest payments are currently set to out-pace non-military discretionary spending very soon. Our interest rates aren't going down significantly anytime soon and may need to be raised in the coming years.

DOGE is not going to address the big 4 programs I listed. It's going to take aim at the non-military discretionary spending.

I don't think that math works. I'm tired of funding the world as much as the next person, but monetarily it's not driving this bus.
