While I'm at it can someone explain to me how Amazon isn't using a super anti competitive business model.

Build a market place, find the most profitable products, undercut the vendor on their business and sell your own. Give your product all the shipping and positioning advantages in the market place to ensure success.

Loads of conservatives believe that because it was spawned/developed in the US, it's some sort of shining example of capitalism/free market but reality is much of Amazon is antithetical to capitalism and free markets.

It's predatory capitalism all around. Big tech in general are some of the shrewest capitalist around. Using all their money to lobby for no restrictions.

One of the reasons I like Andrew yang is his opinions on personal data ownership.

I felt so good when Trump was president.

The last 2 years have been rocking my optimism about my childrens future.

Big tech wrecked trump. He had no means to reign them in and they were able to effectively dampen him at times even. It's wild the amount of power they have.

They've wrecked a lot of people. And still going strong with little to no mechanism to control them. I rank this problem right around the top of the list of things most threatening and destructive to this country.

Well if the government did anything the message it's anti business would be out there in no time. But I believe we've gone too far into pro business side of things. We need better protections from people. The constitution didn't bestow powers not granted to the government it gave them to us the people. Your employer has no place in your healthcare, doctors office etc. We need protections from the corporate oligarchy we currently live under.

It’s really the quote used by people that understand China. People aren’t paying attention. We are in the process of becoming them. Things I was appalled by the Chinese people excusing are now happening here. To my friends that said “Orange Man Bad” and ignored my wisdom when it comes to tyranny and the orient: You Were Warned.

Not quite. Those powers weren't given to the people, they were reserved. Our government was granted powers by the states and the people. These powers are enumerated in the Constitution, and those powers not granted [by the states and the people] to the federal government are reserved (or remain with) the states and the people. The Constitution doesn't givethe people any rights. it simply safeguards those rights from government.

Blackrock owns 7% of the NY Times, a good way to never be zeroed in on by any journalists on the payroll..not that they would dare go there anyways.

I agree with this. My previous post was a off. I guess my point really was that as long as we're treating corporations as people with rights we've got problems. The intent here was to protect us the individual.

Remember it well. Also remember long distance prices nose diving due to competition.

For those to young to remember you used to have to pay more for a call not in your town. A lot more back when.

I've been saying this every time someone praises bezos. And now he sues the government because he lost a bid and feels entitled to taxpayer money.

Google/Facebook control 95+% of internet advertising.

Google/Apple control cell phones and apps.

Microsoft/Apple: operating systems

About 5 companies control all media.

About 5 control social media.

About 3 control cloud services.

About 10 companies control almost 100% of mass communication in this country. You simply can't have freedom when that few people have the power to silence virtually all dissension.

Then you have Amazon/Walmart that intentionally destroy small businesses through anti-competitive practices.

A french style revolution is about the only way to regain our freedom at this point.

There have always been a few companies that lead industries throughout the history of capitalism in the US.
Amazon’s e-commerce and AWS is what needs to be broken up. There are real anti-trust issues when a company controls both web hosting and e-commerce.

However, breaking up Amazon’s e-commerce would be an anti capitalism move and set everything economically backwards. Businesses just need to find new ways to be competitive or create paradigm shifts. Like Bezos did in his garage 25 years ago.

Just don’t shop at Walmart, or better yet, create a product and sell it to Walmart. The only businesses being destroyed are the ones that aren’t evolving.

you don't see any problem with companies being able to buy the positions that are in charge of creating legislature and using them to create an unequal playing field?
