It's been like this since Watergate - it's only blatantly obvious now because of social media.

About 80% of normal people? No.
Are you calling them normal because they don't really engage in politics unless it's going to vote?

Figuring out how the divorce will take place is going to be the trick.
Well, you triggered an old memory from 'You Bet Your Life:
Groucho: 'Doctor, what is the major cause of divorce?'
Some author from 1954: 'It's incompatibility.'
Groucho: 'I think you're right. My friend just got divorced. He has no income and his wife was not patable.'

The message that we are divided is 100% propaganda, and the people who receive that message are, generally speaking, marks who watch way too much tv.
So were "marks" with a propensity to believe propaganda?
By the way, I don't watch TV.

Hissy fits on talk radio and on Twitter are the WORST....right?

It is...online, and, apparently, Portland...the rest of the country, IRL, seems to be normally going about their business and keeping their politics to themselves (of course there is the occasional jackass, but that's life).

Yes. Need more than two parties but I'm afraid that ship has sailed.

Yes. My dad and I don't talk. He is a lost cause and cares more about party than rule of law or the constitution.
A total whack job. It will eventually be communist/libertarian eventually and that will be civil war like when the sides finally fill up.
Lots of republicans are becoming more libertarian minded and lots of democrats are becoming Communist minded. One side wants government to do everything and crush anyone who disagrees; the other side wants government to GTFO and allow people to dictate their own lives and allow states to govern how they choose.

There's an ever increasing likelihood that civil unrest will be the result of the ongoing Dim Resistance against Trump. There's reason for concern regardless of your political affiliation.....the Dims will not be satisfied until Americans are fighting each other in the streets.

The socialist (they should not be called democrats any longer) are jumping the shark proving that if they lose an election for the White HOuse, but retain one or both sides of congress, they will make up charges to have that POTUS removed from here on out...

Yep it is the deep state vs patriots now.

Where is there compromise on single payer, open borders, free healthcare for illegals, free higher ed, wealth tax, Green New Deal, abolishing the electoral college...
And on top of that you still have 40% of the country thinking Trump is a Russian asset.
Yeah I think we've come to a crossroad

I blame social media and the associated disconnect and the echo chambers they create for the state of the world now.
Never before social media would I ever hear of friends and family disassociating from one another for political differences. Now it's commonplace.

I'm done with them. frick every damn Dem forever and a day. I really hope that we keep the senate and win back the house. Add that to Trump for another 4 years. And we need to rain down all kinds of fricking hell on the Dems for the next 4 years. shite, just make stuff up. I don't give a damn. Just make the frickers shite twice and die.

Yes. One side of our political spectrum more closely aligns with Russia, China and Venezuela than it does traditional American political values.
