I am claiming the reduction in UAL assessment is close to equal to the bonus payments that the districts will now be responsible for.

I think that is basically true, but in regard to an earlier statement you made, that would not be 'neutral."

Yes, the school systems would have to pay teachers more, but that is because the state is paying down the debt. In other words, the school systems GET to pay teachers more.

An analogy: If a rich uncle gives you $50k but says you have to spend it on buying a car, it is true that the required expense will match the gift. However, you are up a car. So it's not neutral in my eyes.

Why didn’t you post evidence supporting your emotional desire that voters are aligned with Landry?

That wasn't my premise...it was yours.

You posted it in the OP.

quote:

He is facing a lot of backlash right now including a recall campaign

That's not serious, but this thread didn't seem to be about that...at all.

quote:

voters rejecting a second set of amendments on ballots

This is what your thread was about. Presumably, you would attempt to support that the rejection of the amendments was related to Landry...but you haven't really done that. Instead, you actually did the opposite. You pointed to the fact that Landry was going to be re-elected and also implied that the voters just disagreed with the amendments themselves:

quote:

You are certain that no one read the amendments and disagreed with them?

quote:

what is your evidence demonstrating voters are happy with Landry?

Do you think I made that claim? Where? I could argue that if I wanted. And, pointing to his probable re-election would be a good place to start. But, I haven't done anything close to that.

You seem to struggle with the basics of a logical argument. Premise, logical support for that premise, conclusion...etc.

What would the district be “up” here?

The district is trading one set of expenses for a like value second set of expenses. But they are not getting more teachers, or more buildings, etc.

Your new claim is that you’re just being contrarian for funsies and have no actual opinion about this thread?

Cool. I bet you’re fun at parties.

My new claim was exactly my original claim.

I was mocking you and how illogical your post was.

Even now, what is your logical argument for your premise that voters were sending Landry a message. I mean, we both know it won't be a strong argument, but you haven't even connected the dots at all. Are you so disconnected with logic that you don't even realize it?

Could their overwhelming rejection of more amendments symbolize a rejection of Landry?

Did you make this same post when Edwards was governor and people voted no on amendments?

It's pretty simple. Anything longer than one sentence people vote no.

By $250 a year?

After taxes and retirement contribution, it’s less than a cup of Starbucks 2x a month.

Remember $2000 of the $2250 the teachers are already receiving via annual outlay.

Well, $250 raise and avoidance of a $2000 pay cut then.
